What the Present Trilogy Misses
You think back to the ot there is rarely a negative thought. The characters were well developed and ilm did a great with fx. Technology was lacking and they focused more on the story and characters, showing their relationships to each other. the pt had an overload of technology and that is where I think the problem is. Seems to me that GL focused too much on the environment and how fancy everything looked and instead of spending more time on characters and story. That being said, I personally believe there was only 3 well developed characters. Many of you have a problem with JarJar because he was a lame character. I have a problem because he took time away from characters that could have used more development and that would have helped build the story more. GL had too many tools at his disposal that he forget that it was the simplicity and character driven stories that drove the ot to be the greatest of all trilogies and left the pt while entertaining to watch missing out on what is most important!

So who were the three characters you believe were developed in the Prequel Trilogy? My guess is Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan, but really I think Palpatine was probably the most developed.

I miss in PT a character with the weight of Han Solo. And Padmé could also have undergone further development. In Ep III's DVD you can see that most of deleted scenes were about Padmé's activity as a senator, her support to loyalists who could keep the real democracy, etc.

The 3 characters that I thought were most developed were; Obi-wan Kenobi, Palpatine and Master Yoda. I will give two honorable mentions to Qui-Gon and Darth Maul because even though they both were killed off in TPM, we did get a sense of their characters.

I agree. There was less character development and most looked like they were trying.
Instaed of making the character their own, like the actors in the original trilogy did.

I completely DISAGREE with you. As much as I love the OT, I think that the PT was enriched with more complex and interesting characters. You missed a PT character with the weight of Han Solo? What are you saying? That you wanted another Han Solo in the PT? You wanted Lucas to repeat himself? I think that he made the right choice in telling a completely different story. I find it sad that many of the old SW fanboys were not open-minded enough to appreciate what he had done with the PT.

On second thought . . . reading this makes me wonder if this is just another example of Prequel bashing, because it wasn't exactly like the OT . . . or that it failed to live up to your expectations.

I actually like the Prequel Trilogies a lot. I probably watch those more often nowadays than I do the OT. I was pointing out problems that I saw that nagged the stories a little bit and made things drag once and a while. It's still my 2nd favorite trilogy of all time.

There are only two trilogies.
Actually, I think that the PT is slightly better written than the OT.

You can't lose your virginity twice. To judge the PT against the OT is futile. I for one was thrilled that the PT was nothing like what I expected, and I think Lucas was probably too smart for a fanbase that basically wanted a rehash.
The PT adds so much depth to the saga it's unbelievable! Not only in terms of Anakin/Vader & the tragedy thereof but also the full truth of Owen's disdain for the Jedi & protocol droids, Obi Wan's loss of his friend & consequent sense of failure, Threepio's true history as Anakin/Padme's droid, and the list goes on & on. I love it!

There were plenty of negative thoughts or comments about the OT when it was first released. Unfortunately, many SW fans tend to blind themselves from its faults and pretend that it was perfect or near perfect. The PT also has its faults. But I hope that I don't become one of those fans who end up viewing it through rose-colored glasses.
