Palpatine is like Prince or Madonna, their first names are enough for everyone knows who he is. His last name, which I am totally guessing, is actually Skyrunner, it used to be walker, but he got into shape.

Palpatine is like many people having only one name. as darth kevinmhk said it a mystery.and palpatine would be his last name cos well look at it this way Queen Amidalla not Queen Padme' and for that fact Amidalla is not her real last name it was the one she got when she became queen its really naberi (or some thing like that) the false name im guessing is for protection. Maddona isnt her real name its just her stage name as is Prince. Take this for exaple Elton John (stage name), his real name is Reg Dwiet (i think thats how you spell it?).

Dantius Palpatine is not the real name. That name was off a fake wanna be website called Super Shadow. His name is unknown if you read more in The Databank you will find out that all records of his birth and family and everything about him on Naboo disappeared and is now gone and unknown forever.

Palpatine is a weird enouth name without making it more comlicated by adding another name to him.

His life is so complex, who knows about anything about him. In the Star Wars Episode III Encyclopedia, it mentions all records of Palpatine's family and political background were unknown and possibly erased.

It is Dantius Palpatine...I've read that even before the SS website. And I do believe (if I remember right) I read it in the Star Wars Essential Chronology book. It may have also appeared in the New Essential Guide to Characters.

I can see all records of his past being erased, but when he was a senator, you'd think at least Queen Amidala, Sio Bibble, etc., would know his first name...

So maybe his first name is Noke, or some other deminutive of "nox, noctis": night.

Perhaps he doesn't have a first name or second. Perhaps he's just THAT, Palpatine. Just because he's the only human to appear to have one name doesn't mean that stops anything. He may have come from a family where one name was all you had.

Iīve read also that his real name was Dantius Palpatine, but I canīt remember where I read it. Thatīs his real name. And I like it.

i read a long long long long time ago that his first name was Cos. It was supposed to be mentioned in TPM, but was cut from the script. There have been other blogs and message board topics about this.

I believe Palpatine is his last name and not just a single name. He was a politician through out the saga only to become the highest as emperor. You call them by the title Senator, Chancellor, Queen, and even Darth or Lord for Vader.

The question I believe is "what is his name or was it just given to him" like Vaders? is it Palpatine at all how do we know because he is also Darth sidious? So should the question be whats his first name or if Palpatine is just a mystery from the beginning when it comes to his name!
