Lucky Blog #8
Today marks the end of my first month of Star Wars Bloggitute. .:p

Now that I have been doing this for a while, I think I've got the basics of Blog-writting down.

So in this entry, I wish to say what I didn't say in my first blog. Let me tell you a little more about me.

I have a 10 year old little brother who is very silly. We also have a golden retiever that is 9 years old. We got him from the rescue program about 2 1/2 years ago, and he has been with us ever since.

I am graduating from Middle School in about a month, and will hopefully do so with an A in Algerbra, the only class I get a B in on my report card. Allthough I do well in English, I perfer reading over writing and am not very good at spelling.

Infact, the only reason I can write this blog is because my dad has had me learning about computers ever since I was 8, You see, my dads work has a lot to do with technology, I'm just not sure what.:8} My mom doesn't have as big a job, but its still an important one, she's a part time nurse. However, she does keep us boys in line. And she also has to keep up with us, which is a little harder than you would imagine.

You see, my brother and I were born with a weird gene mutation that causes two rare diseases. The first one is called RP, which stands for Retinitis Pigmentosa. It severely limits our side vision. It's hard to explain over the internet, but it's a lot less than the average person can see. It also makes it really hard to see in the dark.

The second disease is called Scoliosis and it makes our spines curved. This isn't something really bad, but if you don't wear a backbrace untill you are done growing, you will have to have surgury and get metal plates in your back. Luckily for my brother and me, the newest brace you only have to wear when you are asleep, so you don't even notice it.

Anyways, we are very brave kids, and these diseases just make us stronger and better people.

Phew! Sorry that was so long. I hope you liked it though.

MTFBWY,
as it has with me

It's great to hear more about you! I have also been blogging for about a month, and I have a dog, though mine is much smaller than yours (a little funny looking weiner dog:x ) . I'm glad you have found that the obstacles life has given you have made you stronger, and braver. See you around the blogs!:)

My mom doesn't have a big job, she's just a part time nurse.

:O Don't you think nurses work hard, even if they're part time? I'm a pediatric ICU nurse...and this is not "small" job...if I screw up, someone could die.

Nevertheless...I'll forgive this "little" detail...for now. ;) Being so young and having to work through these "diseases" (and yes, *I* know what they are) is encouraging to others--I see it all the time in my work. Congrats on making it through middle school...and good luck in High School :D

Your writing is excellent for your age and grade level. BTW, it IS "do well" but that's soooo minor. ;
If you really want to improve your wiritng and spelling, use a word processing program Like MS Word that has a spelling and grammer check function. Then you can copy and paste your entreis into your blog! (I do this because my typing is so bad after 15 years of carpal tunnel syndrome.)

Some people become dependent on spell check, but it can be used as a learning tool!

A friend has RP, so I know what you're going through... hopefully by the time you are his age there will be a treatment, if not a cure. MTFBWY!

Congrats on graduating Middle School! High school will be a whole different adventure. And, I agree with the other commenters, you and your brother are brave, making the best out of life. MTFBWY.

I have RP as well. It seems we have a lot more in common than I thought when I commented on your first blog. I also have a dog and we got her from, you guessed it, a rescue organization. I have been going to Pai Lum Tao Kung-fu classes. I beat the Grandmaster and he did'nt even know about my conditon. Anyways, I am glad that you have been shaped and molded into a better person by this condition.

Wherever the Force may guide you, God will bless you.

RR out.

I also have scoliosis, although it is mild. My parents never got me the braces, so I got stuck with the curvature. Don't worry, after it is treated, I am sure you will be fine. I have taken martial arts, I currently lift weights, and I used to dance like a maniac at danceclubs and my back has never given me a problem.

May The Force Be With You!
