A writer I may be
But a poet I'm not
Please forgive me, my friends,
This is all that I've got!
Inspired by my friend, jediprincess77 (I have
LOVED her Balanced Force Day entries this week! Check them out
here if you haven't already treated yourself to them!), I have attempted a meager stab at a Balanced Force Day verse of my own, using an ageless, holiday favorite (just giving it some Star Wars flavor!). For a slightly different (and clever) twist to this holiday fare, check out my buddy Rogueish's witty rendition
here.
Well, here goes . . .
'Twas The Night Before . . .
'Twas the night before Balanced Force Day
And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
Not even a mouse (droid).
Luke and Leia, Han and Chewie
Hung their stockings with care
They knew Santa Yoda
Soon would be there.
'Board the
Falcon they settled
For an afternoon nap
Making sure for Yoda Santa
They left down the ship's ramp
Then, out on the sand dune
There arose such a clatter
Luke rose from his bed
To see what was the matter.
Donning Jedi robe and
Putting up its hood
In the shadows of the
Falcon
Our young hero stood
Waiting patiently as only
A Jedi can wait
In silence, in secret
Keeping watch at the gate.
What to his wondrous eyes
Did our young hero spy
But a jolly green elf
With a sack floating high
Up the ramp Santa Yoda
Came with a bound
He landed, he paused
And then looked around.
"A presence not felt in years
have I," he did say
It passed, then with deftness
He went on his way
To the stockings he headed
With a slow, measured gait
Stuffing Luke's, then the others'
His tasks could not wait.
His sack was now empty
But his work not yet done
Time to seek out young Skywalker
To tell him of the Jedi he'd one day become
"Out of the shadows now come,"
To Luke Yoda Santa bade
A challenge to Luke
The wizened Master made.
"To Dagobah you'll go
To learn patience and more
You'll help bring balance to the Force
Like never before
Luke nodded just once
Understanding what he must do
The lessons he'd learn
Would be more than a few.
With a turn of his head
And a glint in his eye
Yoda Santa just smiled
And bade Luke good-bye
Down the ramp Yoda shuffled
And called out with might
"Happy Balanced Force Day to All
And to all a good-night!"
Whatever your plans are over the next couple of weeks, I hope they exceed your expectations, that your travels be safe, that you create some wonderful memories. Most of all, I wish you peace, love and joy.
