I made a batch of Wookiee Cookies this morning. Can you smell their sweet aroma? Oh, how I wish you could be here with me so I could share them with you. I'd gladly do that (so I wouldn't have to eat them all myself ). I hope you won't be turned off by the fact that they emerged from the oven on the . . . shall we say . . . flat side. This is the second time this month this has happened with my batch of Wookiee Cookies! (I shared the first batch with ewanandhaydenfan5, jedipug1 and jediprincess77 when we got together at the beginning of this month to celebrate jp77's [and mine, as it turned out! ] birthday.) This is getting quite frustrating. I don't know if it's my (new!) box of baking soda. I don't sift the dry ingredients as directed in the recipe (let's just say I'm not one for following directions ), but that never has hindered the outcome before. I just don't know what to make of this situation. They taste just fine. They just don't look quite like the Wookiee Cookies they should. Oh well. Once they get past one's lips, does it really matter?
Whether you've baked up a batch of Wookiee Cookies yourself, have a cup of steaming, aromatic coffee or tantalizing herbal tea within easy reach or are munching on your lunchtime snack while you toil away at your desk , I would like to invite you to hop on over to YouTube to check out my oldest padawan's music video. Yes, I'm playing the part of proud parent here. Considering the fact that she did not have a studio or sophisticated equipment at her disposal (which she never has had for any of her film projects, thus teaching her the art of improvisation ), I think she did a pretty darn good job (YouTube's quality does not measure up to her equipment. Oh well.). While her selection was not Star Wars related, if you look closely at the background of those shots filmed in her bedroom, you'll see this soon-to-be Trojan film student's Star Wars connection.
If you have a mind to, I know my padawan would love to have you leave a comment. (You must have a YouTube account to do so. Such an account is free, fyi.)
Thanks, my friends.
Have a great day!
Hope you enjoyed the cookies (even if you had to use your imagination)!

mmmmm....cookies!
I imagine they taste great.
they emerged from the oven on the . . . shall we say . . . flat side
Try to look on the bright side, Melinda, flatter cookies are easier to store, and mean you can eat more (smaller cookies aren't as bad for you as there's less cookie )

Mmmmm...cookies
The recipe I have doesn't say to sift...so I guess I always knew flat cookies. Oh well, they're good anyway
Loved your daughter's video!! Now I just need to remember my password so that I can leave a comment Loved the song, too

let's just say I'm not one for following directions
This reminds me of a friend from the Army. He was telling me he was cooking spaghetti one night but that it didn't come out right. I asked him if he read the directions. He said, 'yes'. I asked how long he cooked the pasta for. He said something like 30-minutes.
The box said 10-minutes. So much for reading the directions...ha!

Oh, you put the egg yolk in the batter, not the whole egg.
So, that's why my oven kept exploding.

Thank you so much, my blogging buddies, for checking out her video. She really had a lot of fun doing it, and appreciates everyone's comments here and on YouTube! You're the best!!!!!
especially with this blue milk
wash 'em down with a glass of blue milk
I am so glad you two remembered the blue milk! Someone has to be on top of the situation!
I imagine they taste great.
They do, j_i. (If I say so myself! Well, someone had to do quality control!) And I like the way you think . . . about the size of the cookies and all . . . any justification to eat lots and lots and lots of them. (cookies are my downfall, I must admit. )

I guess I always knew flat cookies
Ah, jl & ps, as long as they taste good, eh? Any way they turn out, they sure do bring about a smile. (It was pretty nice when my padawan came upstairs this morning and said, "Mmm, something smells good!" )
Can I have another cookie?
Yes, you may, rt . . . if I don't eat them all first! (truly, I learned how to share! )
(the spaghetti) didn't come out right...
I won't even go there, k-fan . . . considering I'm of Italian descent!

I'm not sure what Wookie Cookies are, but I love cookies... haven't had any in... well, a long time...
The video was great, the scenes were edited in a very nice manner! I left a comment for her. Being an old biddy, I've never heard of Taylor Swift, but I like the song... nice choice.... nice touch using a girl with a guitar in the video!

Exploding ovens, dg93? Oh my goodness! I just wouldn't want to be the one cleaning up the mess. (I'm good at making a mess in the kitchen. I hate to clean them up, though!)
She should have quite a future!
Thank you so much, leia19886. She's not used to being in front of the camera, but opted to for this project. It turned out pretty well.
And, may I say again how much I appreciate all your kind words on her behalf. Y'all are wonderful!
Better hurry over before all the Wookiee Cookies are history!

Questions. I have so many questions! How do you make your Wookie cookies? Do you have a special cookie cutter? If so, where did you get it? What's your recipe?
Can you tell that I love to bake (especially cookies)?
As for the flat cookies--the baking soda may be expired. Check the expiration date on the box, or just take a spoonful and put it into a little vinegar, if it bubbles, it's still good.
I've found that sometimes the eggs may be larger than the ones I had used before, this makes the batter consistency thinner, to compensate for this I add more flour to make a thicker dough; usually the cookies retain their shape.
Your daughter's video rocks btw!

not sure what Wookie Cookies are
I'm sending you some from my next batch, g-w. I'm not quite sure when that will be, but I shan't forget!
How do you make your Wookie cookies?
Check out "Wookiee Cookies and other Galactic Recipes". . .the first Star Wars cookbook. It has some yummy recipes in it! I interviewed the author quite a few years ago. She had a blast putting it together. No wonder. It's Star Wars, afterall!
I ment hop on a ship and fly over

Oh man!!! Can't see the YouTube till I get home... sigh.
Meanwhile, I'd LOVE a cookie! Yummy!
Is it humid where you are deary? Could that be why they came out flat? Also, did you by chance buy xtra large eggs these last two times? Most cookie recipe's out there assume you're using small/ medium eggs. That can totally result in a flat cookie.
Anyway, flat or fluffy, they all go down the same way. FAST! LOL
(((hugs)))

I know I'm late to comment...but I just watched the video & left your daughter a comment. Amazing! She did a wonderful job!!! I hope she puts up more things, like school projects perhaps...
About those cookies, the batch I tasted was deeee-lish! Yum yum yum! As for the flatness, I could care less after eating them , but I've had that same problem myself. After a few batches coming out flat, I took a friend's advice & softened the butter a little less than I had been doing. That was my problem all along! I had nice, not-so-flat cookies the next time.
But like I said, yours were soooo yummy! I wouldn't change a thing!

Awesome job on the video! Kudos to your Padawan! She's a lovely girl (I see Mom in her!) and she obviously has some talent going on. Best of luck to her this fall at GL's alma mater!
BTW, I left a comment and added it to my faves.
