Star Wars Gets Dr. Phil's Stamp Of Approval!!!
My wonderful husband - a Star Wars fan himself (though not quite as die-hard as me ;)) - is always on the lookout for anything Star Wars related in the news. Well, this is what he found today at that epitome of news sources, cnn . . . check this out! I knew we weren't obsessive!

Have a great day!

I saw part of that episode. I was pretty disappointed with the wife. To me, if you're going to marry someone, better love them warts and all, or the marriage is based on a lie. To me, unconditional love is taking the good, bad, and ugly.

Why did she marry him? Did she think he'd drop EVERYTHING just to be with her? Pretty egotistical...

Me too! I thought that if his wife didn't want him that I'd take him on as a second hubby anyday just because of the size of his... Star Wars collection.:D

I have to agree with this.

I never saw that episode. Don't watch it in the first place. It seems to me that she had the problem, and knew how he felt while dating. She probably thought he'd drop it after marriage. Wrong-o!!!
And yeah, there are worse things out there to be addicted to...............

:^O Yay for Dr. Phil!!!

I loved the part when Paul said, "And then after the show, Dr. Phil leaned over to me and said, 'Paul, this really is a cool set of Stormtroopers.'"

That video made my day. To be honest, his wife should have considered his love of Star Wars before she married him. If she couldn't take it, she shouldn't have married him.

My wife supports my collecting, although its not nearly as big as this guy's - as she always says there are far worse things to spend my time on.

My wife buys me the occasional figure and sometimes even a big piece. I find that it brings her into my obsession and makes us closer (and the pieces take on extra significance). If she wants him to spend more time her she should try buying something for the collection!

Dr. Phil is a putz....but OK, hey, he digs Star Wars LOL....

It always bugs me that SW collectors are portrayed as "obssessive" in these style news pieces but someone into say sports memorabilia isnt nearly so....Im sure there are guys with basements FULL of autographed baseballs and trading cards and all that stuff too and nobody calls THEM "obsessed."

Its a HOBBY, its FUN and as long as it doesnt interfere with your real life or put you in the poor house, why NOT?

of course this is me, the guy with a bsement full of toys too LOL... :D:8}

Looooooooooove Dr. Phil!!! :D

I caught part of this episode, and since the guy is from Ohio, they had a follow-up on our local news about it. Wifey was ticked because off camera, Dr. Phil leaned over and said "that is a pretty cool Stormtrooper outfit - I'd keep that"! (or something very close to that effect)

Then, the woman newscaster followed it up by saying that her husband Ti-Vo's like 5 episodes of Star Wars every day...only to be corrected that it was Star Trek he was taping. Finally she said "Star Wars, Star Trek...whatever." UGH!! Now, I like Star Trek too, but PUH-LEEZE!! :p

You're from Houston?!? That's awesome! Me too!!!!!! :O

Which part of Houston. City? Neighborhood? If either of those, which part do you live in specifically?

Man, that doesn't happen too often, especially on this site! :D

Maybe we can start a board for Houstonian SW fans! Then, we all can answer each other's questions. :)

Absolutely!! I can understand her wanting to spend time with her husband and not want to go to a Star Wars event on their anniversary, but she came off like she wanted him to not be a fan anymore! I have a serious problem with that! I'm sure she has her own obsessions...food, shoes, hygiene, something.

Go Dr. Phil!! :^O
