Empire at War: a Review (kind of)
Star Wars: Empire at War (PC)

Well, well, well... A Star Wars game that's actually fun and replayable! This is probably the best Star Wars franchise game since Jedi Knight 2 (granted they are 2 completely different games...). having run the simple tutorial, and not being one for single player games, I wanted to play this game online with a worthy adversary. I've been a fan of RTS games since Warcraft 2 came out way back when. Incidentally, EAW plays in much the same way that the Warcraft series did (resource management, troop building, technology advancement) and was pretty easy to jump right into.

Apparently Matt Wood had grown tired of having his butt handed to him by me in Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, because he challenged me to a EaW duel. It seemed fitting that I pit myself against General Weezous. He fought well, but by the time my AT-AT's and Darth Vader showed up in his base, it was all over but the crying.

I have to say, like any well crafted game, it left me wanting to play more and more. Beyond simple ground combat skirmishes, You can opt to play space based combat or even Inter-Galactic conquests involving both forms of combat, smuggler runs, spying, etc. What's more, it's easy to learn and jump right into. A+

OK, so I'm not much of a review writer. But you get the point...

Anyone else playing this game? What did you think?
