Wow, my first blog entry got on the front page! How cool. So many people said so many nice things and welcomed me. I feel so special. I knew Star Wars was a very welcoming community, but you guys went above and beyond what I expected. The other thing that surprised me was how people where totally okay with Hayden squeeage. Most people find it really annoying, or maybe I've just been on the pro-OT tfn boards to much. I assure you I will take full advantage of that. SQUEE SQUEE SQUEEEEE!! I going answer people personally, but I had this really cool experience that I just have to write about.
Okay, today I was at my piano lesson and my teacher asked me if I wanted to do Star Wars, because I had mentioned it a thousand times. I was like YESSS YESS YESSS!!! First I practiced the chords and each hand separately. Honestly it was just like playing any other piece, but when I put the hands together... Oh. My. Gosh. It was Star Wars! I was playing piano in the same way I had done ten thousand times before, but Star Wars was coming out of my fingers. Sure it wasn't the full symphony orchestra, but it was Star Wars. I stopped and gasped out loud. This song that symbolized one of my greatest passions was pouring out of my fingers. I was completely astonished. For the first time in nearly four years of playing piano I felt like I was really playing music.
I am a casual piano player; I never miss a lesson, but yet I don't practice at all. .So, as you can imagine, I'm a mediocre piano player at best. I'm embarrassed to go recitals because I'm so behind everyone else and the worst part is because I know it's my fault. Now I realize that it was because those sounds coming out of the piano didn't sound like music that I can connect to. The Star Wars theme is completely different experience.
I wonder if I practice, if I work hard to learn piano, will everything start to sound like music? There's only one way to find out - I know that. So henceforth I'm going to try it. I will practice, even if it means making my parents make sure I do. My friend - the one who got me into Star Wars - is very musical and I suppose she will be happy to read this.
On a less inspirational note, my summer may only be eleven and a half school days away, but I have not escaped from a long dreaded project. We had to pick from a list of WWII topics and I of course randomly picked the Battle of the Bulge. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid! The whole thing is really long and confusing and with conflicting information. It's in short, a nightmare. I finally found a kiddy book that cleared it up and of course part of it reminded me of star wars. More pacifically, Darth Vader's land assault in the Battle of Hoth. I mean both the Germans and the Imps called their soldiers stormtroopers. The German snow gear looks a lot like the Snowtrooper outfit. There also a certain comparison between the Tiger II tanks and AT-AT. I'm not explaining it very well, most because I don't really understand it. Which is great I know seeing as I have to write a report about it. It was just one of those moments that made me happy because it reminded me a of SW.
Thanks for reading my blog.
