Carrie Fisher "On the Lot"
I'm back... I've been gone for a looong time. To make excuses, I was really busy as the school year ended and then I got sick.

I did manage to catch a new show on Fox called "On the Lot". The basic concept is a reality show to discover the next great film director from a bunch of unknowns. Oh yeah and it's produced by Steven Spielberg. I know most people weren't interested until they heard the second sentence. During the summer I watch a lot of reality shows especially ones on fox: Hell's Kitchen, So you think you can dance, ANTM, Project Runway, everything. So I jumped on bored with this one. Reality on Fox, big name, what more could I ask for.

I was pleasantly surprised to find opening montage had a clip from Star Wars and one the aspiring directors saying something like "You can say 'May the force be with you' all over the world and people know what you're talking about." That impressed me a lot. The show goes along pretty well, la de la de da, and then the judges walk in. Is that who I think it is... YES IT WAS. It was Carrie Fisher!!! I was completely and totally surprised. All the contestants were like "OMFG!! LIVING LEGENDS!!" One contestant's reaction to Carrie was exactly what mine would have been "OMG I'm sitting six feet away from Princess Leia." It seemed like everyone recognized her and were absolutely blown away.

During the show she seemed very likable and charming. Above all, funny absolutely hilarious. Carrie also seemed to have a great rapport with the other judges, directors Brett Ratner and Gary Marshall. The best moment of the program is when Marshall says to Fisher - "You always think the pants are coming off." I think I'll make you watch the show to figure out that context. Overall it was a nice, fun, summer reality show. It's too early to tell much else about it. But I'm definitely sticking with it. It's on tonight on 8:25 Central tonight.

Also, this week I picked up "The Making of Star Wars." Once I finish it, I plan to review it. It's huge so you can't expect it till the end of next week.
