Han and Leia. Anakin and Padmé
Well, I sure hope this is ready to read. I'm not too good at blogging.:_| Here it goes. Enjoy (hopefully)!
While discussing the sand comment Anakin makes (I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough, and irritating. And it gets everywhere.) in AOTC, I got to thinking that Anikan and Padmé made a real big jump pretty quickly. She probably had guys lining up for her, but she went for the one who wasn't allowed to love.
At the beggining of AOTC, Padmé seemed to be showing she didn't love Anakin (You'll always be that little boy I knew on Tatooine. in response to his obvious attempt at flirting. Like she didn't notice what he was doing). While packing, she said how Anakin looked at her made her "feel uncomfortable". There are still some other silly lines of dialogue (personal opinion, please don't get mad) like the sand line, and the flirting at dinner, and the stuff by the fireplace. Padmé seemed uncomfortable around him. And then, on Geonosis, she says, "I've been dying a little bit each day sense you came back into my life." ... "...I truly deeply love you." Biiiiiig jump. Almost a "get away, leave me alone" to "we were meant for eachother, kissy kissy, mushy gushy." (Like the the thing on the balcony in ROTS with the "You are so beautiful." "It's only because I'm so in love with you." "No, it's because I'm so in love with you." ~Loosely translated into, "I love you more." "No, I love you more!") He won her with silly lines and flattery? With childish flirting?
Would Anakin (9 year old kid) really carry a torch for Padmé for ten years? I think he'd of been stuck in his training, too busy. He says he hadn't seen her for ten years~~would he have loved her like that? Boyhood crushes don't usually last and stay as strong as that. The change between Ani and Padmé's feelings was too sudden of a jump.
Leia and Han worked alot better. Han won Leia by charm and wit. And in between ANH and ESB, they had three years to put up with eachother. Leia didn't become just a distant memory. They were around eachother more, so they could come to like eachother more (And tease eachother to to hide it). Han and Leia's love didn't jump too quickly from name calling and Wookiee kisses to "I happen to like nice men" "I'm nice men" "No, you're not..." and "Who are you??" "Someone who loves you." Han and Leia had a steady relationship. They were the perfect, idealistic couple.:x
It took time and was a comfortable change. You knew Leia would and wanted Leia to eventually come to love Han. With Anakin and Padmé, you asumed they'd get together because that was how it was set up.
You could tell Han and Leia loved eachother. Anakin and Padmé still had a rocky relationship. He didn't talk to her for comfort, and though he was trying to save her, in the end he killed her. The choking thing was unnecessary.
I know you all will come up with some good answers to make me feel better about how Anakin and Padmé rushed the realtionship. Your comments are certainly welcome, but we shouldn't have to try to explain George Lucas. Please, don't get me wrong. I love the prequals. ROTS is my favorite of the 3. And if it wasn't for AOTC, there would have been no clones :x . If there weren't clones, there would be no Clone Wars. (I love the clone wars! And the clones!:x :8} )But some different dialogue was needed. (No offense to Lucas either. He is a genius. His creations have inspired me and many others to write stories and create art.) Ten years is alot of time. Time that Anikan probably would have spent training and becoming a Jedi. Not day dreaming about his long lost love. I like Anakin and Padmé, but they were rushed. Uncomfortably rushed.
btw,
Was the council testing Anakin by sending him off to Naboo with Padmé? Or was it a silly mistake? And why did no one notice he lived with her? If he loved her so much, why did he choke her? And argue with her?
again, btw,
What is the "Blog Space Limit"? With "1% of your allotted limit is used" under the white bar?
again, btw,
I'm working on a fanfiction story, and I've ran into some trouble. I have Three Jedi. Two are a female master and padawan. The other is a male knight. They're on Kashyyyk. I want the padawan and the knight to escape Order 66. The Master is killed by her troops. I'm just not to sure what should happen to get the Master to do to get the padawan away and safe. And what should happen to the knight? Can anyone help? Thanks.
