You've heard about it, this mysterious band of bloggers, masters of their craft, the elite, the select few, the chosen ones. Now, after weeks of speculation, you must know. What is the 'PLB'?
Normally, I wouldn't indulge your curiosity. If we wanted you to know, we would let you know. Like any secret society, we like to keep ourselves to ourselves, only hinting at our existence for an easy laugh at your expense. I have, however, decided that everyone should know, so they have no delusions about the matter. The answer.
The PLB is a group of bloggers from starwars.com, who, after realizing their potential, have decided to group together and form an organization, where only the best bloggers from the site are allowed. As an organization, we have no real space in which we convene, mostly we meet on member's blogs, where we work our mysterious magic. Therefore, the title of 'member' does not allow you into a special place, rather it is honorary, signaling to all that you are better than everyone else.
How do you become a member, you ask? You don't. You're obviously not good enough, or you would have been contacted by a Senior PLB leader who would have then made a motion to allow you into the group, which would have to be voted and agreed upon unanimously by the charter members. Don't contact us, we'll contact you, when you're ready, of course. What do you do until then? Write more, I suppose. You could practice blogging, not that it would help.
Here at the PLB, we're better than you, and we know it.
You want the real answer, gentle reader?
The Pitiful Little Band, or PLB, is in reference to bloggers, much like yourself, who have happened to form a bit of a cyber-friendship with other bloggers, as suggested by Kenobi-fan in
this entry. That's it. We're just a group of starwars.com bloggers who kept commenting and blogging, and slowly realized that there were certain people who we felt a connection with, and who we constantly read and shot comments back and forth with. In short, we're friends. We all are just a bunch of pitiful little bloggers trying to make our way in the blog world, taking what we can get, and giving the same back. That's the idea.
Much like any group of friends, we also have our very own inside joke. We didn't make the joke, everyone else did, anyone who said, "PLB! How do I get in?" made the joke, made it more real, at least. I'm quite certain that there are actually some people out here who believe the PLB is some elite group. It's not. It's a joke, much like the beginning of this entry.
Some of you might have heard of the
Official PLB Fan Club, or OPLBFC, which is a blog created by user luuke.skywalker. Why did he create the blog? Because he's too damn cheap to spring for a Hyperspace subscription, not because he wanted to create an exclusive club. He wanted to write a blog, so he made one off-site. He called it the PLB 'fan club' because he knew it would most likely be read only by the people he knew from starwars.com, otherwise jokingly known as the PLB. Since he couldn't have his own SW blog and 'become' a member of the PLB, he decided to make his own 'club' of which he was president. A kind of, "You're all outta apples? Well, I don't need your stinkin' apples! I've got a banana!" kind of thing. If you must know why luuke isn't letting any and everybody post on his blog, it's because he appreciates a certain level of quality, not because his 'PLB' is an exclusive club.
You want to join the PLB Fan Club? Talk to luuke.
You want to 'join' the PLB? You can't. Join, that is. There is no joining. Log on, joke around with us for a while, and before you know it, you're just in.
