Recommend:
The Java client linked above works pretty well, but sometimes lags. I recommend using a dedicated IRC program like mIRC (Windows,) Colloquy (Mac,) or Chatzilla. (Any Mozilla-based browser.)

Chat Mods:
Dark Spork (Dunc), Broox, McEwok, Rohniss and Havac have auto op on a trial basis. The chat is not heavily moderated, they are there mostly to take care of the trolls.
