When browsing the internet for information on the haiku, a Japanese form of poetry, I came across the SciFaiku. A SciFaiku is quite similar to a haiku, except that the poem is always based on science fiction rather than nature.
The SciFaiku was invented in 1995 by a guy named Tom Brinck who wrote a book called
The SciFaiku Manifesto, setting the standards for the new form of poetry. A SciFaiku should ideally have 3 lines and 17 syllables altogether, utilising an immediate and minimalistic writing style. But these rules do not have to be followed strictly if the poem still conveys meaning well.
There is some debate as to whether Star Wars is truly science fiction, but there are certainly many elements of the genre within Star Wars. Here are some of my attempts at writing a Star Wars SciFaiku:
Proton torpedoes
aim for the main reactor
and bring destruction
Wise Jedi Master
makes his home on Dagobah
green, mysterious
Legendary warrior
son of Vader, twin of Leia
Jedi
Palpatine, Vader
dark, tyrannical regime
overthrown at last
Holding my weapon
my attack and my defence
my one, glowing hope
