Episode II and III scores - as God intended!
Well, to kickstart my newly created blog I'd like to air a grievance! (Grievance, not Grievous!)

And it should be prefaced with the simple fact that I am a movie score freak. I just can't help it! And, suitably, this passion was stirred at an early age by none other than the original Star Wars trilogy (The original original - where Han shot first).

As for the grievance itself:

I am most displeased with the apparent lack of progress in releasing an 'Ultimate Edition' of John Williams' legendary scores for Episodes II and III. I for one was as excited as a kid on Christmas Eve when they announced the Ultimate Edition Phantom Menace score(the subsequent release felt much the same but more like Christmas Day :) ). And I can't help but observe that a lot of great music is absent from the existing releases for Clones and Sith. As an example from each film:

In Clones, the deeper vocal music that accompanies Dooku's descent into Coruscant, but just prior to his meeting Sidious. It's tiny but important.

In SIth, the Anakin Vs Obi Wan track is sans the Duel of the Fates "segue" when Yoda and The Emperor duel in the Senate Rotunda.

These are but two of many such examples and I feel the circle will only be complete when these releases are, well, released!

I also think a leaf could be lifted from James Horner's book with the recently released Fellowship of the Ring "Complete Recordings" which included every single cue over three CD's worth of music AND a DVD Audio of it all to boot! (I'd happily buy all 6 Star Wars soundtracks again if they released them like this!!!

Who's with me?
