Vong and extremism part 2
well i think a parallel could be made to various forms of extremism in religions from monks take part in self beatings as part of a purification. one could even see the suicide bomber martyrism as a type of self-inflicted pain for the a religion. for the most part from what i gather about the Vong is that they loathe modernism or at least technology and viewed any connections with technology as the other. the media for the most part views the war on terror has and us vs. them war. a war in which jihadist and al Queda fight us because they loathe our life styles, secularism, media, and at some sense our worship of technology. the star wars galaxy and the republic/Galactic alliance seem to have a lot in common with the US. That implication was obvious from the original films involving the Rebel Alliance. the Star wars galaxy is very secular. the Force is not what the majority of species in the galaxy based their religion on. in some sense the Jedi have a limited role and in some senses are hated by the galaxy because they serve a higher power. this parallels some of the current anti-God/Christianity sentiments in hollywood and in many areas of academia and media. some paralles can be made. obvious this is not a full in depth study into International relations theory (IR theory) and i am not saying this applies to all people of any religion
