Last night I submitted my entry for Jacen Solo's Sith name. I got really giddy about it. I can't wait until the contest starts and we get to follow it on the site!

This is a great opportunity for all of us. It is very similar to the "What's The Story?" contests. The stories that fans come up with are phenomenal. I admit that I just cannot come up with anything intriguing enough for them. I might get an idea here or there, but I just don't have the ability to flesh them out. Besides, once I see the final entries I am always blown away by how better they are than any idea I may have had. And I have nowhere near the depth of obscure background information pertaining to the EU that some of you have (looking at you, Abel.)

But this was different. All I had to do is come up with the name. The backstory is already written. And this name immediately struck me like bolt of lighting. (darkside Sith lightning, of course.) However, I am not the type to immediately pull a name out of the air and instinctively submit it without thinking it over first. So I did. I had a couple of other names lined up too. I finally decided on the original name, but only after thinking about alternate spellings.

Now all I have to do is wait. I don't mean to brag, but I think the name I came up with is really SWEET. It goes with the character, and those literate enough should understand what the name pertains to. But hey, if anybody else comes up with a better name I will gladly have them win. But I still can't help to think how cool it would be to have the name I chose become an official part of SW canon. How the authors themselves might become inspired by it, how it might influence how the write the characters, the path of the stories, or even the influence on the naming of future Sith such as any apprentices he may take. You know, sort of a running theme on Sith titles. But coolest (geez, I sound like a teenager...) of all is that this is the Grandson of the original (if not exactly first chronologically) Sith, Darth Vader.

On a final note, while we are on the subject of Sith names I would like to say which is my favorite and which is may least favorite.

Darth Bandon- Dull name for a dull Sith. Least favorite.

Darth Nihilus- My personal favorite. I defy anyone to top that!
