In my last entry I wrote about the Ewoks and there role in Episode six Return of the Jedi. And wow did I get quite a response. I read every comment in the whole entry and I still have alot to say so I am doing a part two. In the last entry we had a great discusion over the Ewok factor and I have some new points I would like prove. Also thanks to swfan123456789 for backing me up on the last entry.

Weapons: A big argument that drew sides in the last entry was the Ewoks use of weapons. The only weapons they had were Sticks rocks and bows and arrows(Along with there log traps, which were about there only weapon that could baleivably stand up to the Imperial storm troopers). Anyway. As we watch the battle, the over grown teddy bears attack and appear to be beating the storm troopers. These are the storm troopers who stormed Echo base, destroyed the Jedi, and keep the galaxy by rule of fear. And here they are lossing to the Eoks who are only using primitve weapons. Come on, thats not possible!! Some people tryed telling me that if your hit with a rock you fall over, but the storm troopers were wearing full body armor gaps or not. Besides the Ewoks werent throwing the rocks like MLB stars they were droping the rocks at point blank range at the storm troopers, how much could that hurt? I'll leave the AT-ST out of this, its not worth discusing. Another thing is that the Empire was a galactic super power. They had been around the galaxy and been in many battle, they had experiance. The Ewoks had never left there planet and ROTJ was probably their first real fight.

Underdog story: The weapons were one part factor of the Ewok factor but the Moral issue was another. Some people pointed at the fact that the Ewoks were a moral story that the small guys could beat the big guys. Yes thats true, but the small guys still must have a chance. Look at the line up of military commparison:

Empire: AT-AT(s), AT-ST(s),Imperial storm trooppers, and technology.

Ewoks: Midget warriors, log trapps

As you can see the Ewoks have a sever military handicap so Moral story or not, they (logicaly) werent capable of beating the Empire.

Now Before I open this up to another discusioon let me touch on a few things. First I dont hate the Ewoks. There fine in all but its the role that they play. In my opinon a CG battle with the wookies would have been far better, more bileavable, and cooler. My problem with the Ewoks is that the way they beat the storm troopers. Emporer Palapatine refered to them as his "best troops". Also, the Empire maybe over looked the Ewoks as a threat, but how big of a threat could they be?
