 | DJ Mauls Ultimate Star Wars Toy Room Tour Part 36! |
I have been meaning to get back to doing video segments for some time now when it came to featuring my toy room.
Some of you may remember the few I did awhile back using my webcam, which were fun but I was truly limited in what I could show that way.
Now that I have a digital camcorder and I can get a lot better camera angles and shots, I decided it was finally time to try it again.
Also I have been inspired by my fellow collecting buddy Slow to get back into it; if you haven't been watching HIS video tours you should be, he has an awesome collection!
Anyway, this first video clip is just a general overview of the entire room....think of it as you JUST walked into the room and wanna just look around.
The Maul Cantina Tour Part 1
The second clip is where I start to show specific shelves and the items on them, some you have seen before, some you may have missed, and some are brand new:
The Maul Cantina Tour part 2
I will be doing more of these in the weeks ahead, so let me know what you think and hopefully you will enjoy watching them as much as I enjoy making them.

I just COULDN'T wait till I got off work to see this, so I'm home for lunch! Am I a devoted fan of your collection, or what? Ha ha!
Anyway Deej, I absolutely LOVE these video segments. SO much better than just plain ol' pics, not that I didn't enjoy your other blogs too, it's just that these make me feel like I'm really THERE, getting a personal tour. Love it.
The room looks great. I like how you have all the Maul stuff together now... makes sense and shows it off better IMO.
Awesome! Well worth the drive home.

WOW!!!!!
Thank you for the note on the inspiration (I'll not go into a sappy Chicago song). Funny how your tours inspired me to do mine. The circle is now complete!
What a great room! I cannot wait to see them (m)aul!!!! That was bad.
I remember the JCPenny's stuff. OH how I wanted them. THey released those after they (micro machines) had their little fun of treasure hunting through the mini packs. THey would have a gold one hidden in certain playsets. I never got one and that was going to be my way to get them...but I never got them that way either. Great to see!

Know what you mean about affording the MR stuff. If you bought one full scale hilt you would be losing out on $350 worth of figs or other items. And I don't have $350 laying about. It's easier with the little stuff.

Great job, man. Love the shout outs to those who helped score some items for you, and the unexpected humor of knocking something over. Cool stuff, Deej.

Nice room Deej ... I bet you wished you had it when you were a kid "Tom ... GO TO YOUR ROOM!" hahah ... "okay will do Ma. Cya in 2 weeks!!"
Boy that new maul sideshow thingie displays well. I love that thing. I also love the gold plated Micromachines very much. Those look wicked sharp as a display.

Great videos deej, and great collection! Thanks a lot for sharing that ... you do have some very cool stuff there. I love the Vader mask lamp ... that's great, and good thought on the red bulb for it!

Holy crappity! I knew you had a lot of stuff, but a picture is worth a thousand words, indeed!
Seriously, your collection is impressive, Deej! I have only seen part one so far (I'll watch part 2 later when I get time), but I really like how you showcase your collection. I enjoyed the way you showed the "evolution" of the room as you remodeled it (do you want to come install lighting in MY basement ), and the way you have everything arranged.

That shelving unit is so cool, and it will help protect those precious comics.
I just have one question - how do you dust everything?!?
I am surprised that you have any room for the "non-SW stuff" you mention! What are you going to do when you finally run out of room in there?
Great video, Deej!

Well worth the drive home
glad i could get you out of the office for a bit!
Couldn't afford the large MR sabers?
I suppose it depends on one's point of view, or what on chooses to spend of NOT spend in one shot.
What a great room!
Thanks, Im a big fan of your room too!
How much does it cost to get in?
the tours are FREE, but donations are accepted...
I'm too freakin' excited about Nobby's accomplishment on getting Mark Hamill's autograph for me
someday I may add that to the collection myself...someday.

the unexpected humor of knocking something over
I was tempted to edit that out or go back and reshoot but I like the sort of "anything goes" aspect of shooting these unplanned and for the most part unedited.
The idea is to make it like i was taking you around the room in person, so I dont want it scripted or anything. And yeah, it was kind of funny that I knocked something over...it was a clone BTW.
I bet you wished you had it when you were a kid
you're right there. I have dreamed of this room since i was a kid. Only took me...30 something years LOL.

good thought on the red bulb for it!
yeah, I sometimes dont get the LOGIC in what they do with some items...I mean a YELLOW light bulb in a Darth Vader lamp???
but a picture is worth a thousand words
I will probably still continue the picture tours as I collect new items; the video tour is more of a way to show the ROOM itself, if that makes sense. And video gives a MUCH better idea of the scale of it.
how do you dust everything?!?
Fortunetly, the room has no windows or heat ducts in it, so as long as I keep the door shut the dust is very minimal. Its not nearly as bad as one would think.

hey, deej, great video tours! I loved them!! It was just like being right there with you. Now I just need to visit you in person and let my eyes go bug-eyed! Wow!!!
I have my calendar right to the left of my desk so I can gaze at it whenever I want . . . keeping me from work.
I'm looking forward to your future tours. They really are a lot of fun, and it's always a pleasure to see what other fans have in their collections. I can live vicariously through you! (I hope you don't mind. )

p.s. how can you work amongst all those fun toys???

This was really impressive Deej. I also have that Vader light, and I don't know why I didn't think of getting a red light for it, but you have inspired me my friend. I really enjoyed the Maul shelf; it looks like you have some real gems there, and it's so hard to get everything, but from what I see, you got some of the best and nicest looking items. Well done!
