Ok at this point I am almost HOPELESSLY behind in these tours; I have SO much stuff I haven't covered in the past few weeks & months that it's tough to decide where to start LOL.
BUT I really need to talk about what happened just yesterday!
I've talked before about my local comics & collectibles shop and how recently they got a HUGE amount of Star Wars stuff in from a collector who sold off his toys.
Some of it was vintage, some newer, some in great shape and a lot of it beat up but it was all on a discount table and I've been popping in there the past few weeks and scooping up some really neat items and some fun bargains.
Well I went back again yesterday and started rummaging through what was left and as usual, the items started adding up.
The guy who works there came over to help me box it up as usual and at one point he joked that I should just buy the whole table worth of stuff and be done with it.
I joked back that I just MIGHT and then asked him what would he sell it to me for.
He said "give me a hundred bucks and you can take it ALL."
Now, I'm sure you're thinking at this point "Ok, was this stuff WORTH a hundred bucks?"
Well I will show you what I grabbed and in the end you can tell ME.
First thing I did when I got
all the boxes home was to take it all out and
spread it out on my kitchen table so I could get a better idea of what was there....I knew what a LOT of it was but when we started boxing it all up I didn't see EVERYTHING he threw in there!
I was amazed at the
sheer variety of stuff!
Along with a nice assortment of
action figures came plenty of stuff to keep me busy for ages!
Need some reading material? There were quite a few
books & magazines along with an inflatable chair to sit in to read them!
Need a project for a rainy day? Included were
several puzzles & an X-Wing model to be put together, and also
two Battle Droid Lego sets, one opened and assembled already, the other unopened in the box. Or I can work on one of
two Ep. I art sets also in this lot.
Need a snack? I scored some fun
Pez dispensers & an Ep. I Skittles Candy Dispenser ...although Im not sure Im gonna actually EAT the candy in there LOL....it's what, 10, 11 years old...? Yeesh.
Speaking of food, there were quite a few of the
Ep. I fast Food Toys along with a couple of the
Cups & Toppers from that promotion as well. I have a complete set of these already but an item I never did get was also included: This
KFC Flying Bucket Topper!
Health care products are also included; I can make my teeth nice N shiny and soften my lips with these next items, some
Ep. I Toothpaste & Brush sets & a Darth Vader Lip Balm.
On the chance that I ever take up biking, my head will certainly be protected from the Darkside of the Force of falling on the concrete with this wicked cool
Darth Maul Bike Helmet.
Headed back to school? No, but if I were I'd certainly look sharp with my cool
Star Wars Folders from Mead!
I don't normally collect trading cards but these
Customizable Trading Card game & cards along with a Ep. I collectors tin full of Widecreen trading cards from the various films was also in this score!
There is literally TOO much stuff here to cover in ONE blog, so to finish up I'm gonna just touch base on some real highlights; many of these next items were the items I originally chose from the table before buying the entire lot.
This was the first and IMO best item I found: a
Jedi Mickey from Disney's Star Wars Weekends!
These were TOUGH to get and are very limited; I was amazed this was there and he had a 5 dollar price tag on it, but since it was now part of the lot I got it even cheaper LOL.
I LOVE oddball vintage stuff and these qualify:
Vintage 1977 stickers and some
vintage 1983 ROTJ Collectors Card WRAPPERS!
Yes, someone saved the wrappers the cards came in! 4 Different ones...these things are probably worth NOTHING really but at the same time very rare; how many collectors thought of keeping the wrappers too? Not many.
One of my favorite scores from this collection was the assorted lot of
Vintage Star Wars Bedsheets!
These are all original vintage sheets and many of them are sets, top & bottom sheets although most of the pillow cases are missing.
Another "Worthless Yet Rare" item is this
1983 ROTJ pen! ....oh and the little metal Hoth Rebel behind it is from 1982.
I always liked Micro Machines stuff and was happy to get this
Droids Micro Machines set & carded X-Wing Fighter from the late 90's collections.
This next item I was happy with too, a
Star Wars Electronic Battleship Game!
It was obviously used so I took it out of the box and
assembled it to see if everything was there.
While all the ships & stands are present on the
Imperial side, there were sadly an X-Wing and two small stands missing from
the Rebel side.
I have yet to find batteries for it to check and see if the electronics still work but it's a playable game still.
Ok what the heck, let's cover the rest...if you need a break reading this blog take it now and come back when you're ready LOL....
Some items were still unopened like this
Jar Jar Electronic Bank, and this
Ep. I Book & Cassette Tape set.
Other items were not only open but missing parts like this
Vinyl Luke Applause Figure & Electronic Droid Deka ....Luke is missing his saber and the droid is missing an arm.
This
Ep. I Sideous T-shirt looked clean but a little musty, I'm gonna wash it up and see how it comes out.
Last but not least...an
R2 D2 Flying Rocket Model kit!
This was opened and partially assembled; I may mess with this at some future date and see if I can actually get it to FLY...if I do it will make a great video LOL.
Im sure I still missed a few items but I think you got the idea!
Now I counted it all up and it was about 100 items total...100 items, 100 bucks.
So....what do you think? Did I get a bargain or what?
PS: As I mentioned, a lot of this stuff I already have, so I will be sharing the wealth with many of my friends, selling or giving away lots of it....AFTER I decide what I'M gonna keep of course!
Super D Super Special Edit Alert!!!!
Ok, so Im opening the Jar Jar Electronic Bank and guess what falls out from inside the box?
Go on, guess.
Give up?
It's an
UNOPENED pack of Star Wars Topps Trading Cards!
Yes, you saw & heard correctly, a vintage 1978 pack of trading cards
still factory sealed with the gum still inside!!!!
Imagine that.....a 30 year old piece of GUM, LOLOLOL...
