DJ Mauls Ultimate Star Wars Toy Room Tour Part 63!
What I truly still love about collecting Star Wars is the diverse ways it can take me; sometimes I'm shopping the shelves for the newest and neatest and other times hunting around for something vintage and unique.

This chapter will focus on a little of both.

Let's take a look at the vintage stuff first...

I found this vintage Micro Collection Bespin Gantry Play set at my local comics & collectibles store and really enjoyed the fact that, while the original box was still intact, it had already been opened and so I could take the items inside out for display purposes.

It came with two sets of Luke & Vader micro figures so you could recreate the classic scenes of course!

Speaking of recreating scenes, I also found this awesome vintage Jabba, Salacious Crumb and Throne Platform play set there for just a few bucks!

I think the platform may be missing a few pieces but it still was w wonderful addition to my Jabba's Palace / Cantina shelf display!

I also scored three vintage Burger King glasses for just a buck a piece despite the fact that they look brand new! No cracks or fading at all!

Ok, now for some NEW new stuff...

Picked up this cute Luke Skywalker Lego Maquette at Toys R Us when it was discounted down about 70% off...it's not the type of thing I normally buy BUT I liked the price and it is a pretty neat item; it actually comes unassembled and the pieces are held on magnetically!

I also just recently got in my Aayla Secura Mini-Bust from Gentle Giant; again not the type of thing I buy often but in this case I am glad I did, the detail on it is truly beautiful.

Hallmark already has their new Star Wars Christmas ornaments out and I got this one so far:

The Imperial Shuttlecraft ornament is nicely detailed and it, as many of them do, plays music when you press a button!

It looks fantastic floating above my Titanium shelf doesn't it?

These last few items come to by way of my good friend M68!

You may have read her recent blog about her get together with Hansgirl at this summer's Comic Con...well while there she managed to score me some great items and sent them as special gifts to me!

Her first shipment to me included the amazingly cool Comic Con Exclusive "Disturbance In The Force" Set which I may showcase in a future video clip so you can see and hear just how awesome this piece is!

She also sent me what Is now one of my fave tee shirts: The Darth Side Of The Moon, which combines two of my all time favorite things, Star Wars and Pink Floyd! Perfect find Shelly!

A few more highlights from that shipment include some Matt Busch items including a signed sketch card, and this Obi-Wan For President '08 pin!

Ah, but she wasn't done just yet....later she sent me a second package that included one last Comic Con exclusive, the Senate Security Clone Trooper plus two really great items she found elsewhere, at a party supply store of all places!

These lunchbox tins are made by one of the original companies to make tin lunch pails, which is why they look so vintage despite the fact that they are indeed brand new items.

Great finds Shelly, and great gifts, thank you!

To close this tour I have a new video clip that features some interesting cheapo lightsabers I found...check them out!

Thanks as always and see you all again soon!

Aw Deej, you are so welcome. I guess it's obvious... I absolutely LOVE to contribute to the toy room. :D :x

Those pails were just $5.99 guys at Party City!! Can you believe that?! They're actually meant to be party favors but so well made I had to score them! If anyone wants some lemme know. :)

That Aayla Secura Mini-Bust rocks!! Very nicely detailed indeed! Lots of cool scores deary!

Haha - light swords. The sounds were also pretty funny, for some reason.

That T-shirt is pretty sweet.

Great stuff Deej. I also really like those Hallmark ornaments. The one with Vader and Luke dueling in the throne room is tempting, but I may just want to see if it hits clearance after Christmas. I've gotten some great Hallmark ornaments that way. Sometimes I tell myself that I want it for $14, but not for $28.

It's funny, the Jabba playset and Star Wars sheets (along with ROTJ cereal bowl and cup) are the only surviving Star Wars items from my early childhood. And, of course, Jabba's pipe is missing (as is Mr. Crumb), but thankfully I still have Jabba and his platform. Those snakes inside the gates, or whatever they are, still give me the creeps. "I hate snakes! I hate 'em!" :) Cool blog, DJ!

oh, deej, I used to use my Burger King SW glasses. I prescribe to the notion that it's best to use what one collects. Why just collect dust . . .

that is until, while reaching for my favorite ROTJ Luke glass, I lost my grip (I hate being short!!!) as I stretched for it (far be it for me to use a stool! X-(), and it went flying over my head . . . only to shatter on the kitchen floor. :_| Let's just say I don't use those glasses anymore.

Yay, deej! You have a Luke!!! :D

...above my Titanium shelf doesn't it?

Yes, it does. :)

combines two of my all time favorite things

perfect, deej! :) No dark side leanings, eh?

Obi-Wan For President '08 pin!

personally speaking, deej, I'm going for Luke in '08. ;) (I even have a pin courtesy of our own t-bone. :))

deej, I love your new lunch boxes. I'll have to be on the lookout for them. I like to go to school in style, you know. ;)

Loved the video, too, deej. :) Despite the fact the sound effects don't seem to mesh with the "maul"-ish lightsaber, great find. On that one, and all of them!

MTFBWY :)
