As usual I'm way behind on a toy tour update, and at this point I don't think I will ever catch up entirely BUT I will give it the ol' DJ try...
Let's start this tour off with yet more GETS and GIFTS from my fellow geeks who are always ready and willing to lend me a hand in getting things I need.
I will start with my buddy T-Bone who has, for the past few years now, made special efforts to get items for me when he attends Comic Con in San Diego.
This year he scored me the new Acme Archives
C-3PO Concept Art Sketch Plate which complements the R2-D2 one I picked up at C4.
He also hit Star Tours at Disney this summer and on my request picked THIS exclusive item up for me:
The Darth Mash Mr. Potato Head!
This is a Disney exclusive NOT sold in retail stores so I was very excited to get it, and I did of course
open him and after some maneuvering around, managed to get him on the same display shelf with
the rest of my Mr. Potato Head toys.
Thanks T-Bone, you, as always, ROCK!
I love a good sale, and when Gentle Giant sent me an email advertising half off on some certain items I of course checked it out!
I picked up two of their new Mini Busts; these are nice little busts at a reasonable price, and at 50% off the price was even BETTER!
The two I chose were the
TIE Fighter Pilot and the
Snowtrooper. These have very nice detail on them for such small items; I really like Gentle Giants work.
Speaking of sales, Star Wars Shop.com had a package price deal on the
General Grievous Concept Fig & Jedi-Con Shadow Troopers set that I decided to get. I wanted a second set of the Shadow Troopers to open, and since the Grievous figure finally came down to a more reasonable price too I figured it was finally time to order it.
My Tee-shirt collection has been expanding lately and I found these next two at Hot Topic:
Han Solo In Carbonite and
Your Empire Needs You!
I also stumbled across a neat tee-shirt at Wal-Mart one day totally by accident; it was located in the BOYS clothing section and I just happened to spot it as I walked by.
They didn't have ANY size even close to fitting me BUT I liked it so much
I bought it anyway ...why?
Because it GLOWS in the dark!
If I can ever figure out a way to get a picture of it glowing that will actually come out I will, but since it didn't fit me I attached it to the ceiling of the toy room for fun!
In my
last blog I showed you some great discoveries I'd made in a box of junk at work, some vintage flash gun's that we're the basis of the actual lightsaber movie props.
I finished converting the Luke Skywalker version; I will give you the
Before Picture again here, and now reveal the AFTER Pictures:
Luke's Saber 1
Luke's Saber 2
Luke's Saber 3
Luke's Saber 4
Luke's Saber 5
Luke's Saber 6
I'm still working on customizing the
other flash gun.
I'd started customizing it and didn't like the results so I scrapped it and started over, and I'm not quite done yet, when I am I will of course post pics.
To wind this tour down I have not one but TWO new video segments!
Part 23 features me sitting down and showing some vintage stuff I've found (some of which I may have already featured in pictures in past tours but oh well...) and
Part 24 features my new Droid Factory display shelf!
Enjoy, and thanks as always for tagging along!
