 | To Open or NOT to open... |
I didn't wanna call this blog one of my official Toy Tours because basically I'm just gonna feature ONE item, in video form.
You all know me, normally I open almost everything, but I've been in a friendly debate with some of my fellow geeks about this item and figured I'd throw it out to the peanut gallery for your feedback.
Just watch the video HERE and all will be explained.
You can leave your vote to OPEN or NOT OPEN either here or at You Tube, k?
I'd really like all opinions on why it should or shold NOT be opened, so spew away.

On eBay, they're going for between 25-30 dollars unopened, BIN. So I would open it. IF they were going for much higher, I would probably sell it and then buy an already opened one cheaper, but that's just me. It looks really cool, and to me, if it falls into the "book" category, I totally wanna see what's inside! Open it!

I just left a comment over there, but I'll say it here, too...normally I'd say rip away, but I say leave it unopened for now. Save it for some time that special for YOU, and THEN rip away!! Very cool!

So....torn!
Do you ever plan on selling it? If they were selling for more than $25-30, I'd leave it sealed. BUT, you'd have a lot of fun opening it. But then again, it is 20th Century Fox copyrighted.......
Oh, why couldn't you have gotten two??? I'd love to see the stamps!

OPEN IT!
How else are you really going to enjoy it for what it is - and album full of cool Star Wars memorabilia!
Really though, I don't think the plastic seal on that is the kind of packaging that matters so much about keeping in tact. It may hold a higher resell value with the plastic on, but really, you'll never get to enjoy this addition to your collection (other than it being a box with graphics on the outside), and I think it will still hold a high value if it's kept in good condition. Things like this should have the contents *inside* displayed somehow (kind of like the McQuarrie plates).
LOL - We know you really want to

I highly agree with comanderbly, if it's not worth a lot then open it! However, if it's highly valuable, then I say leave it closed. Whew, tough choice man. If you can easily display the contents and don't plan on selling it then you should open it. Then again, seems like a pretty old package. Wow, I feel torn just thinking about it. I myself have a box with a 1:64th scale Nascar diecast inside of it. In the box as well are 20 collectible cards. I'm dying to open the box, but, I don't, maybe because I'm afraid the cards will be a let down. I don't know because I'm not you, do what you want.

This is what I do when I'm torn between 2 choices. I flip a coin. Now, here's the tricky part. I don't just let the coin decide what I'll do. You see, usually we have a preferred decision in our head, but we just can't find it. So, for example if you make heads open it and tails leave it MIB flip the coin. Now, let's say the coin lands on heads. Now, do you feel happy with your choice, or is there an empty feeling in your stomach that says, "Best 2 out of 3,"? If you feel happy then that's what you want. If you feel bad then choose the other. It worked for me when trying to chose a research paper topic.

Sounds like a weird thing to do but try it. If it doesn't work then...I guess I'm just weird. But I already knew that!
BTW, nice glasses!

As stated earlier the book value means nothing to me, I would not care it was worth 50 cents I wouldn't open it because it is vintage and still sealed. Think about it ... the thing is about 30 years old and still sealed.
if they are so cheap and worthless buy an opened one on eBay for $9

So, what you're asking is do you want to become a philatelist or not?
Usually, I would chime in with a resounding "OPEN IT!!!!!!!!!!!" . . . but, this time, I am given pause . . . such a unique item . . . but you really can't enjoy it if you don't open it . . . but this is something few of us ever will come across in such excellent condition . . . but you really can't enjoy it if you don't open it . . .
as my friend who owns a Star Wars shop (okay, there are some ST and LotR goodies, too, but they pale in comparison to SW ), you aren't going to send your children to college on the value of SW goodies (not at today's prices!!!).
OPEN IT!!!!! and enjoy.
