There Is No Conflict

From the Mouths of Babes to Palpy's Ears
As some of you may know, the plans for J2's B-Day party are well underway. As such, his interest in watching the saga (and the Clone Wars) has grown. The last couple of days, he's really been into "the scary Star Wars" (Ep III). I knew it was okay for him to watch when he told me (many months ago) that "Anakin turned to the Dark Side and then got burned." Of course, I only knew that after I let him watch it.

He had another gem today. He was explaining that if I was good I could get the purple lightsaber that I want for my birthday (I don't think he's going to ask for one). Then he told me, "That guy with the purple lightsaber said, 'He's to dangerous to be kept alive.' He's mean, Daddy."

I instinctively responded that Mace Windu was his name and he's a good guy. To which the boy replied, "Oh, Mace is a good guy, but he's still mean sometimes." And his statement made me realize that Palps also told Anakin that Dooku was to dangerous to be kept alive when they were aboard the Invisible Hand. Do you think JKelly2 realizes the parallel dialogue structure? I didn't really get it until he pointed out that Mace was mean.

I imagine that Master Windu wasn't in charge of the Padawan Preschool Program. Truly wonderful the mind of my youngling is ...

I'm usually the first to defend Mace... but gotta admit, that's a good catch on the part of JK2. You have trained him well.

Wow that is a good observation. Not that I didn't know the lines were there but never put the two together. Palpatine said it in the one case to justify the murder and Anakin said it was wrong it wasn't the Jedi way. Fast forward to the Mace scene and he hears Mace ( a jedi)
repeat it. .........

Anakin in his twisted state of mind probably justified everything he did by Mace's
non-jedi-like statement. Not that it was justified but it confused him enough at that moment to tip him over the knife's edge. I still think Anakin was a shmuck but it does show a possible mindset there.

That's what kids are for. To show us dull grown-ups the obvious every now and then.:^O

Hope the B-day goes well.

Ah..., wise your youngling is.:D

Having conversations with my two boys (6 & 8) is always something I love doing. They do point out, or ask questions about SW that I had never noticed or had put much thought into. It's all there fault;)that I became addicted to the SW website, because I had to start doing some research in order answer their questions properly.:D

How old is J2 going to be?

I have thought that Mace is mean for a while, and I've blamed him for Anakin's fall since Anakin looked like Jake Lloyd, but I never quite put it together exactly the way J2 did. Kids see things so clearly, and clearly, J2 understood the dialogue's meaning if not it's structure. He's a perceptive kid....a really freaking cute perceptive kid. :)

Sorry I'm late sir! It's been a looong couple of weeks, months... er... years. :p

Ah! Give us full coverage of the par-tay when it happens okay?

Mace is probably a good model of good guys sometimes being flawed, just like all humans. Whether or not j2 realizes the parallels within the movie, I would think he sees some duality going on in the characters... or maybe he really is a genius like his dad. ;)

Best jkelly quote ever:

Spam sounds tasty, too. It kind of like tofu, except for the meat.

Reminds me of what my own padawan spouts at times. I'll save that for a blog for another day. Yes, jk, truly remarkable the mind - and words - of a child is/are.

Have fun!

This scene has been thoroughly analyzed in one of the Message Boards. The Jedi code has to do with not killing unarmed combatants. Dooku may not have been entirely neutralized but Palaptine could have used a variety of Force abilities to still kill Windu, e.g. lightning, Force push or bring the ceiling down.

On top of this, his political connection made him getting a fair trial all but impossible.
