The Pupil Goes From Prodigy to Prodigal
Last Sunday, we heard the story of the Prodigal Son -- one of my favorites and a common topic for me on these blogs.

The elder son -- the arrogant one -- did not want to kill the fatted calf and party. The father said, "Look, everything I've got is yours. You're brother has squat and now he's back."

I've done this before (I don't feel like setting up links, so seek and ye shall find) by examining why Obi-Wan calls Anakin "like a brother" but Anakin says that Obi-Wan is "like a father." Again, more support for my position that Obi-Wan was, in fact, acting like a brother -- an arrogant and jealous brother.

When Luke wants to save Vader, what does Blue-Ghost Ben say? "Kill him." Jealousy is afoot. Anakin had it all and let his abilities waste away. Rather than keep the straight and narrow, Anakin went for the indulgences of the Dark Side drunken with power (no, he didn't do it for Padme, that was just a rationalization -- go find my older entries).

Luke, though, The Redeemer, took the role of the father. Luke, like the shepherd that lost one of his 100 sheep, went searching for the lost sheep.

Luke's search for his father, his desitny (another old link), resulted in Luke making his own destiny and becoming the father-figure. There was a party of sorts -- bonfire and all.
