What is the "balance" between the Light Side and the Dark Side? Mood lighting? Gray? Dusk? It's probably "dusk." That time right before the day is over. That time of your life right before you pass away.

For a while now, I've been wondering what was so "out of balance" in the Force that the Jedi Order needed a Chosen One. Theories abound, but I think everyone, including myself and the Jedi, has missed the point.

Quickly, go turn on cable television. Somewhere, someone is either preaching, or trying to sell a book, or both, about the looming end of the world (kind of a variation on the Cain-Hackman Theory). Beginning with St. Paul, every generation has had someone who thought the world would end and Jesus would return during his/ her generation. This, of course, flies in the face of the teaching that "You know not the day nor the hour."

Despite themselves, all those preachers were, in actuality, right. When you die, your world ends. Maybe you're reincarnated and maybe you're not. But, for sure, your conscious existence as you know it ends and you enter a different plane of existence (or, possibly, non-existence).

Mythology has a cyclical, eternal, and repetitive nature to it. In Catholic tradition, Jesus leaves us on Holy Thursday and returns from the dead during the Easter Vigil. Every Sunday we engage in that weird, cannibalistic ritual (transubstantiation and all). Persephone is actually abducted by Hades every year, causing the seasons. Death and rebirth happens at set intervals.

One of my theories has always been that each person's "Revelation" (yes, referencing the book of the Bible) happens at the end of his/ her life. There is death, judgment, suffering, rapture, enlightenment, epiphany, and theophany every single time. Balance and understanding, too? I think so.

By analyzing who, out there, would bring balance to the Force - or who will save us, perhaps we've all missed the most important person of all. From the microcosmic point of view, perhaps the Prophecy of the Chosen One is all about you. Don't look for others to help you out. You have the power within you. You are called to bring balance. Just obey your true nature.
