Spreading the Force...
Over the past few years my knowledge of what Star Wars is and where it came from has grown beyond my grandest expectations. From Novels, to Comics, to Visual Guides, to the EU Databank here on starwars.com, all have provided me with a greater sense of Star Wars history than that of my own country...BY FAR. This comes in handy when someone looks me in the eye and asks, "So, what's Star Wars all about?". My response..."A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....".

Most people my age (19) who have yet to take in a single Star Wars film have little desire to start. Yet, occasionally, someone comes along who knows NOTHING about Luke, Anakin, Yoda, or even Vader and asks if they can watch the films with me. Between my Star Wars T-Shirts, my tags that read "CJ Vader", my SW backpack, usually the SW novel in my hand, and the fact that I bring up something about Star Wars at least once an hour...people know where to go for a "Force Fix".

The latter occasion presented itself yesterday when a friend looked to me and said "I want to know why you think this stuff is so dang interesting, let's watch them this weekend...". I told him "Absolutely!". I'm always excited by the opportunity to recruit another member into the George Lucas army. My friend and I continued our conversation and I realized that he has NO IDEA what happens. NOTHING! He doesn't know what happens to Anakin, he doesn't know that Vader is Luke's father, he's never heard the phrase "Death Star"...he's completely clueless! That saddens me to a certain extent...I mean how has he made it through 21 years of life without hearing "Luke, I am your father?". I know I've said it around him before, but he apparently has never taken the time to put two-and-two together. This is an ample opportunity for me to witness the complete and utter astonishment that would have to come during Episode III if one didn't know that The Chosen One was destined to fall to the Dark Side. I can't wait. HE HAS NO IDEA! He is the kind of guy that really appreciates a good story, so I think he'll be another person to train in the ways of the Force, and who knows...maybe a fellow blogger one of these days!
