Death of the Big Three
It used to be the big four, but one of its members has already found an honorable death that few of us will ever forget. Of course I speak of Luke, Leia, Han, and in the end of the last sentence most specifically Chewbacca.

(If you haven't read the NJO series this might come as a shock so read at your own risk)

Going way back to 1999 and the launch title of the NJO series Vector Prime we saw the death of a character that we all thought to be immortal, a death too taboo to be talked about before it happened.

Not to dishonor our great Wookie friend but he was obviously the smallest, not in actual size obviously, of the Big Four yet his death hit us all very hard. What happens when say Luke or Leia or even, god forbid, Han dies. The biggest question that comes to me is not really how these characters will die but who will write there deaths.

Chewbacca's death was written by RA Salvatore and I believe, despite some canon errors people see within VP, he did Chewbacca death beautifully. Would I want him to write the other three's deaths? No, but only because I think other people have closer connections to these other characters and not one writer should have to carry the burden of killing off all of our favorite characters.

Who do I want to write their deaths? Timothy Zahn is the first who comes to mind. To many of us he wrote one of the greatest series in the Star Wars Saga and has been around since close to the beginning so he deserves the honor. Another person is a new face to the SW scene but has done a remarkable job in my opinion. I speak of none other than our very own Karen Traviss. Like I said she is a relatively new face but her ability to make us feel for those faceless troopers as individuals and her work in the new Legacy of the Force series have given her good credit towards receiving this honor.

Hopefully these deaths are still far off though.

Who would you want to write these goodbyes?
