This blog is actually probably three blogs in one so strap in and hold on.

First off on my list of discussion topics is why the expanded universe is not only valid in our GFFA but is essential to its survival. I'm am not here to advocate that the EU is canon, although I believe strongly that it is, but I am here to talk about why it is important for the survival of Star Wars.

We sit here every day and discuss our beloved galaxy, some strictly the OT, some the OT and PT, others only EU, and still others, including myself, discuss all of the above. We each have a different reason and part of Star Wars. No one is saying that EU supersedes the movies in importance. Without the movies there would never have been the EU. But sadly, the movies are done. They have served their purpose and we'll all watch them till we die. Insight of this can you sit here and tell me you don't want to look deeper and learn more about this galaxy we are so loyal to when you have the opportunity?

The comics, the books, the games, and the TV shows to come give us a way to see SW that we never had before. With the movies it was like looking at the galaxy through a small porthole and now with the EU that porthole is blown away and we're floating in space, able to see in every direction.

Without these modes of viewing, we really would run out of things to talk about. Only so much can be written and discussed about with only 12 hours of material to work with. So as much as it is important to hold the movies up above all the rest, it will be the EU that keeps the SW machine running strong for years to come.

Alright that was my little bit about the EU (provoked by those who swear Boba Fett is dead mostly).

The next two are more just observations than anything.

Legacy. Since the release of the first issue, theories have been raging about who we think Darth Krayt is or if he has to be anyone at all. One such theory is that he is Jacen Solo. This is the theory I support for multiple reasons, Krayt's resemblance to the Vong, how Krayt's domination required the manipulation of Vong technology, Jacen's training as a Sith and the time stated when Krayt he began his Sith training. But there is one important reason that has not been stated yet.

Before Leia had the twins, Jacen and Jania, she swore she would not have kids because she fears her children could follow the dark path of her own father. This was stated many of times and was a side plot in multiple books. She eventually reconsidered because she learned the history of her father when he was a child on Tatooine and then there they were. How perfect of a set up would this be. Most people have forgotten about this or set it in the back of there mind and now would be a perfect time to make that fear to come true.

Alright, now we're on to the last one.

The Vong, just another Feudal system in a futuristic setting.

The Vong society was set up like a typical Feudal system or also known as a caste system.
At the top were the Gods and then by divine right was the Supreme Overlord.
Then was the Priest caste that consist of High Priest, High Priestess, Priest, Priestess, Seer, Novice
Then the Warrior caste which consists of the Warmaster, Supreme Commander, Commander, Subaltern, and Warrior for the Warrior caste. Then comes the Shaper caste which consists of Master, Adept and Savant (known as Initiate at times).
Next is the Intendent caste which has the High Prefect, Prefect, Executor and Consul.
Finally there comes the Worker caste with their Workers, Slaves, and Shamed Ones.

Nothing about this system or its categories are unique. In fact, this is almost a perfect resemblance to the European Feudal system during the dark and middle ages with God at the top then the Pope (Supreme Overlord), then the King and his Knights(Warrior caste), then the priests (if you can't figure this one out stop reading), then the magicians and men of the earthly sciences (this one is a little harder but it is the shaper caste), then the lords, dukes and such (Intendent Caste), and then finally the peasants and slaves (worker class).

Just a little observation.
