You can't seriously create a real Jedi Order without a purpose if you wish to remain sane. But there is a crystal clear purpose ... so why would we wait serving the Republic?

Dex makes one of the sharpest remarks concerning the true foundations of what makes up a real Jedi order. He asserts that Jedi should be able to see the difference between knowledge and wisdom. In our current world this distinction is becomming ever more blurred while at the same time the world seems to be in ever more need of just that. A new and real Jedi Order could do its important share in alleviating this.

Knowledge in dispute
In many ways has knowledge become the substance of manipulation in our times. Some people still recite the old quote that knowledge is power but if you properly reflect on what knowledge means nowadays you will find it is almost powerless. The power resides with those who produce what we call knowledge. Just think about the infinity of inconfirmable little factoids flying around on the web. No matter whether you talk about who's to blame for 9-11, or who controls the price of oil or how bad global warming really is; information is generally manipulation and there is a spin to practically every fact. In principle this is a pity, but not really a problem if those who lead our countries would know the difference between knowledge and wisdom.Unfortunately either they don't, or they don't care.

Guardians of Peace and Justice
I would be happy to let our senators squable over what is fact and what is fiction. I could bear the manipulation and the fog of lies that some politicians (and religious leaders) put up to secure their interests and the interests of their voters (devotees) and sponsors. There is even a real justification for having things work this way, because in Democracies that seems to be the least brutal manner of dealing with and dividing power. It is, in a sense, the way of the Market. However, that is not a process by which we can safeguard Peace and Justice, and this is exactly what we see everywhere in the world around us. To value Peace and to value Justice, Wisdom is required. A wisdom that knows, in a deep sense, about the paths that lead to the darkside, that knows which paths not to tread upon, a wisdom that is not solely dry text from ancient books but that is acute, alert and aware of the moment. A wisdom that can sense into the future, acknowledging that the future is always in motion and never set fixed. This is exactly the purpose of a new, a real Jedi order.

So where's the Republic?
Well folks, the Republic is everywhere. But it is most obvious in places like the United Nations' General Assembly or the European Union parlement. But the Jedi did not just reside on Coruscant next to the Senate. They were everywhere, and so should our new, real Jedi order be everywhere. Ofcourse the security council will not come to ask us for advice. At least not yet. If we want to be taken seriously, we must earn the credit. And believe me ... to do this is within our grasp. We're the right people, in the right place at the right time ... at least in our Galaxy.
