Ramblings of a Jedi

End of an Era
This is the rambling Jedi's Husband. The rambling Sith. Anyway, we were spitballing some ideas around, and I started thinking: In EU, if they were to kill off main characters (i.e. Luke, Leia, and/or Han) how would that be received? The other Rambler seems to think that most people would be (understandably) upset over this, because they have developed a sort of relationship with the characters. She points to Chewie's death, and the sort of reaction there was to that.

However, because I am a curious Sith, I wonder if people have grown so attached to the new generation of characters that the death of a beloved character could be dealt with. Granted, there would be a lot of weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth, as there should be. But Luke, Leia and Han can't save the galaxy forever, can they? Does anybody think that there will come a point when the generation that fought the Galactic Civil War will have to give way to the new generation? It's possible that the younger characters could do the kinds of things that the older generation did, but how would everybody feel if it actually happened?

Before I get thrashed, I just want to say I would be just as distraught when I read it as anybody. (Fewer Jedi in the galaxy = unhappy Ramblers)
