The Quest to 100: Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight
The Quest to 100 continues...

I just finished reading Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight by Michael Reaves, and I am looking forward to the sequel Street of Shadows. I like that there were characters from previous book I have read by Michael Reaves. I have read Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter (by Michael Reaves) and the Medstar Duology (by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry) and I like that I-5YQ was in Shadow Hunter with Jax's father, Lorn. I-Five was then on Drongar with Den Dhur who were then in Coruscant Nights. Also the Black Sun assassin Kaird, carried over from the Medstar books to Coruscant Nights.

This book takes place about 6 months after Order 66 takes place. So, Jax, being a Jedi, has become a bounty hunter in order to avoid suspicion. He used the Force very rarely until he is denied payment for a bounty and has to defend himself. His cover is blown shortly afterward and finds out that his old Master, Even Piell, has giving him the task to recover a droid with critical information on it. Jax, wanting to carry out his Master's dying wish, sets out for the droid and runs into a little trouble along the way (these things never go right do they? If they did the books would be like 50 pages :p)

I liked that this time Kaird's story crossed directly into the main plot. In the Medstar books, his story crossed indirectly. More of in the shadows than anything else. Also there is a significant appearance of Prince Xizor, which was unexpected but very welcome to me.

Interesting facts:
Apparently there are 582,797,754 human males on Coruscant with the name Jax Pavan. (Whoooaaaaa!!!)
Also, the scene on the front of the book never happens. And the saber on the cover is yellow, and in the book it is blue.

Here are some quotes that I liked:

"As per procedure, you have been paid the reward for turning in an enemy of the Empire, Now you are under arrest for smuggling and other crimes against the Mercantile Guild. Since the Empire does not do business with criminals, your reward is hereby forfeit and confiscated--as your ship and all possessions and appurtenances fitting thereunto." -Rhinann

"I'm never unarmed."
-Laranth

"I forget nothing, Captain. Including insubordination. Are we clear in that?"
-Vader

So far the totals are...

Books Read: 85
Books Owned: 93

I don't know what book I will read next because school is getting started, but I'm sure it will be either X-Wing #5: Wraith Squadron or The Truce at Bakura.

Till next time...

May the Force be with you all! B-)
