The Quest to 100: Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight
The Quest to 100 continues...

I just finished reading Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight by Michael Reaves, and I am looking forward to the sequel Street of Shadows. I like that there were characters from previous book I have read by Michael Reaves. I have read Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter (by Michael Reaves) and the Medstar Duology (by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry) and I like that I-5YQ was in Shadow Hunter with Jax's father, Lorn. I-Five was then on Drongar with Den Dhur who were then in Coruscant Nights. Also the Black Sun assassin Kaird, carried over from the Medstar books to Coruscant Nights.

This book takes place about 6 months after Order 66 takes place. So, Jax, being a Jedi, has become a bounty hunter in order to avoid suspicion. He used the Force very rarely until he is denied payment for a bounty and has to defend himself. His cover is blown shortly afterward and finds out that his old Master, Even Piell, has giving him the task to recover a droid with critical information on it. Jax, wanting to carry out his Master's dying wish, sets out for the droid and runs into a little trouble along the way (these things never go right do they? If they did the books would be like 50 pages :p)

I liked that this time Kaird's story crossed directly into the main plot. In the Medstar books, his story crossed indirectly. More of in the shadows than anything else. Also there is a significant appearance of Prince Xizor, which was unexpected but very welcome to me.

Interesting facts:
Apparently there are 582,797,754 human males on Coruscant with the name Jax Pavan. (Whoooaaaaa!!!)
Also, the scene on the front of the book never happens. And the saber on the cover is yellow, and in the book it is blue.

Here are some quotes that I liked:

"As per procedure, you have been paid the reward for turning in an enemy of the Empire, Now you are under arrest for smuggling and other crimes against the Mercantile Guild. Since the Empire does not do business with criminals, your reward is hereby forfeit and confiscated--as your ship and all possessions and appurtenances fitting thereunto." -Rhinann

"I'm never unarmed."
-Laranth

"I forget nothing, Captain. Including insubordination. Are we clear in that?"
-Vader

So far the totals are...

Books Read: 85
Books Owned: 93

I don't know what book I will read next because school is getting started, but I'm sure it will be either X-Wing #5: Wraith Squadron or The Truce at Bakura.

Till next time...

May the Force be with you all! B-)

I'm working on that 50th blog, and running into some roadblocks. Since you seem to like my material, could you please give me some advice on what you'd like to see, and what I should avoid?

Thanks!

Hi Jake! I sure got here fast!

That was like jump-to-lightspeed fast!

So, you were saying something earlier about reading a non-SW book. Now staying with that: Have you read the Harry Potter books?

Have you read the Harry Potter books?

I read three of 'em when I was in fourth grade, but kind of got bored after that. Most people find that kind of shocking, :O but, hey, I'm a SW fan!

I don't know. They kind of lacking originality to me, for some reason. I LOVE Asimov, though. He's my all-time favorite writer. Have you read anything of his?

Nope

The reason I asked about the Harry Potter books is that my fellow Star Wars fanatic has read the HP books and loves em. He did admit to the first couple being boring but he said that they get a lot better. I also told him, I was gonna borrow the first one just to see what I think and possibly read the rest. So yeah, none of that had any relevance whatsoever, or did it? I dont know, its 2:28, not much is clicking at this time. :p

Speaking of which, I can probably stick around a few more minutes, but I do have to go soon.

Alright, same here, one more comment maybe.

Nope

Well, I really recommend the Foundation series, so if you get a chance check it out! And I'll re-look into HP and tell you how it goes.

Looks like that's it for tonight. It was really fun talking to you, Jake, and I'll "see" you again tomorrow. :D

Thanks for the fantastic conversation! That was the best I've had in a long time, since I don't get to talk to many people of my own age. Too bad you live on the other side of a screen...;)

Good night, ner vod, and may the Force be with you!

Yeah thanks! That was great! Can you believe it was like 2 hours? Time flies. And yeah its really great to talk to someone my own age, (15, 16 whatever same thing) And yes, sometimes the screen can be frustrating, sometimes you wanna actually talk to someone. Instead we wait for the blog to post our comments! lol

Good Morning ner vod lol, May the Force be with you as well!

Hi, Jake!

I really had a good time last night. Thanks a lot! :D

And we're still two of the most popular blogs! ;)

But, unfortunately, my comments filled up for my musical, so I'm thinking of deleting our conversation to allow other people to comment, but I'd really like to save it! So, maybe I'll just leave it.

Hey guys (JediJake and QGR) , being obsessed with numbers I thought y'all'd (that's "you all would" in Texan) :p like to know that y'all typed 50 comments in 2 hours and 17 minutes! That's got to be a new record! As Vader would say, "Most impressive."

Oh, and QGR, I was gonna comment on your blog and say that the Episode IV Musical was good but, alas, there was no more room! ;)
