Getting into the game
The Force Unleashed; possibly the greatest Star Wars game of all-time. Awesome force powers, great story, and cool insight into the times between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. This blog comes in two parts.

PART I
My Star Wars gaming life will never be the same.

Repulse: probably my favorite new force power in a game. That and the pushing people with lightning and watching them explode. The PS2 version is great. And it is terrible compared to the 360 version. That's saying a lot for the 360 (which I don't have ]:))

Anywho, once I played The Force Unleashed, no other game seems the same. I was going to play ATV Offroad Fury 4. I put it in and started a free ride, less than 5 minutes in I said, "This is nothing compared to The Force Unleashed." So I took it out and put TFU back in!

Slaughtering everything in sight is fun and all, but I missed the regular soldier games like Star Wars Battlefront I & II. So yesterday I put in Battlefront II and started going nuts as a Clone Trooper. "Oh look! Would you like to play as Obi-Wan? Of course!" So I hit "yes" and get Obi. So I run into battle! "Square! What? Why isn't he attacking? Oh yeah, square is attack in TFU. Oh man what was it in SWBF II?" as I'm getting pelted by blaster fire, "Oh thats right it was R1! Die you rusted scraps of metal!" So in short, I had to relearn all the controls to SWBF II when I was a Jedi.

The main story I've been building up to is this. Playing on Coruscant as Mace Windu. I run into the droid base and then suddenly like 4 spawn. And I'm like "Repulse!" so I hit L1+▲ (which is Repulse in TFU for PS2) and what happens? I throw my lightsaber cuz thats that L1 does in BF II as a Jedi! The main point of all of this is going back to, once I played TFU, my gaming experience is never the same.

PART II
Reviving my love of Star Wars Battlefront II's space battles

One of the very first things I did when I got Star Wars Battlefront II was play a space battle. Oh, the joy that spread through me when I lifted off the hanger floor and into cold space! BOOM! Kill, BOOM! another kill! My favorite way to play was Clone Wars, as the Republic in an ARC-170. That was before I read the X-Wing books that take place after Return of the Jedi.

So recently, I changed to playing with Galactic Civil War era. I was all Imps at that time. Interceptors were my favorite, fast and agile with all those missiles, I was unstoppable! Taking out targets almost as if it was because I willed them dead. I have always liked to play as the Rebels in SWBF I, so why not in BF II? Well, they seemed lamer in BF II, but that was before I flew an X-Wing.

X-Wings have always been my favorite ships from the Original Trilogy, and are definitely in the top ten for favorite ship in all of Star Wars including EU. So yesterday I jumped into the cockpit of an X-Wing and started pwning those Imperial suckers right outta the sky.

It was just one of those moments where you feel so deep in the game that you are IN the game. You ARE a Rebel along side the greats like Wedge Antilles and Corran Horn fighting off the Empire. At least that how I felt for a bit. I barely used the proton torps. I love the evasive maneuvers in the game also.

One last story of my space battles. Yesterday while I was playing (alongside Corran and Wedge ;)) I just decided "ROLL! NOW!" and I did, and what happened? A laser from the Star Destroyer came right through the spot where I was just at! Force-sensitivity baby! Haha

If you have had some crazy awesome experiences while playing Star Wars games, I'd love to hear about em. Leave a comment, or even blog about it.

Till next time,
May the Force be with you all! B-)

Ture true. It's like trying to ride any regular roller coaster after going on the biggest one in the park.

But since you've been talking about BF2 I've got to say that it is, even after the awesome experience of TFU, my favorite Star Wars game. I've even done every single possible thing there is to do in the game but I still love it!

Crazy experiences? Okay, on KOTOR when walking through one of the hallways in Manaan I could have sworn I saw three white birds fly past me in the tunnel. Pretty creepy.

The Force Unleashed; possibly the greatest Star Wars game of all-time.

Second greatest, ner vod. KOTOR's still the greatest...;)

I had this absolutely ridiculous amount of kills on BF2, but when William crashed, all my history and ranking was lost. :( Soooo, I played for like a half an hour last night, just killing like crazy, and got 400 kills in one night. Yup, still fired up about the Traviss thing. :^O

Crazy gaming experiences? Oooh, I've got one.

I was playing the campaign on BF2, I was at this part on Polis Massa where I was supposed to disable some generator or something. Well, anyway, I had it on Elite level and somehow or another, I just couldn't get this level.

I was always the last player alive, and then they killed me, and I had to start all over.

So, that happened again, where I was the last person alive, and I was beginning to feel kind of frustrated and ticked off, so I took a deep breath, flexed my fingers, and charged like mad, lobbing grenades and firing like crazy. As soon as I got to the generator, I was dead. But just as the picture started to swing around to reveal who killed me, the generator exploded, and I won the level. :^O

I have to admit, the two best gaming experiences I ever had in my life were on TFU. #1 would probably be traveling through the sarlaac's gut, and the second would be going through the giant mushroom.

But nothing beats the storyline, interaction, and plot twist of KOTOR I.

Oh, and they're making an Indiana Jones game with the Euphoria and DMM (digital molecular magic) tech that they used in TFU! WHOO!!!! B-)

Hey, interesting blog, jedijake. I'm not quite ready to name The Force Unleashed as the best Star Wars game ever- the original Battlefront and both KotOR games are still better, in my opinion. But either way, it was an awesome game. If only there was more of that fantastic story...

Unfortunately, I don't have a crazy Star Wars gaming experience off the top of my head right now. Maybe I can pop in later if I remember one. :)

Two of the best Star Wars games for sure - but I'd also add Jedi Academy to the list too... and KOTOR.

I had a great time with TFU, and even though I played it to death on the 360, I am still playing it, now in speed rounds. Too much fun. When I first started playing it, and really got into the story, it seemed so dark that I had to take some breaks to play Lego SW. You've inspired me to put in BF again :)

Exactly! Good analogy.

Yeah, KotOR is pretty awesome isn't it?

You've inspired me to put in BF again

Huzzah for inspiration!
