I've already mentioned this in the comments for my previous post, but I think it's worthwhile, for the benefit of all SW bloggers, to say this again.
For the most part, the comments I've recieved on my Blog have been great. I invite you to contribute more, and keep the questions about Star Wars Galaxies coming, as I'm more than happy to answer them for you as best as I can.
Unfortunately, one member of the community decided to try and bring everyones IQ level down by a couple of hundred points by posting something.. well, quite frankly, stupid.
People put alot of time and effort into their blogs. Admittedly some more than others. I'm at the lower end of the scale. But some of the Star Wars blogs are fantastic, fuelling debate and discussion of the Saga we all know and love.
It's just sad when the best someone can come up with is "You Suck".
I mean, what's the point?
I'm not taking it personally. In fact, as far as SW Galaxies is concerned, I DO suck. Hard. Yet another reason I feel it's important to join a good, strong supportive guild to get the most from the game.
But I digress. My point is, if you don't have anything constructive or intelligent to contribute, then please, keep it to yourself.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether it's positive or negative. But blog writers are entitled to at least have their work respected. There is nothing wrong with criticism. I just think it should be constructive, for the benefit of the writers, rather than self-serving with no purpose, or just out-and-out mean.
So to the flamers out there, I issue a challenge.
Rather than posting insults and other mindless drivel, try thinking before you comment. Form a well rounded, reasonable argument and write it so that it can be (a) understood and (b) taken seriously. If after doing that, the best you have is still "You Suck" or something similar, then don't bother, because no one wants to read it.
This is Star Wars. It's fantasy. It's supposed to be fun. So don't be the one who ruins that fun for everyone else so you can have a chuckle to yourself in a poorly lit room.
It's a simple request- play nice, and don't be heartless.
Doubtless some wont be able to comply even with that, which is fine- that's what the "Delete Comment" and "Blacklist" buttons are for.
I encourage all bloggers to make use of those functions as regularly as you see fit, and I encourage all flamers to take the hint and smarten up.
Let the inevitable barrage of Flaming commence.
