Bane's back, baby!

Wow - my second blog entry this month. Is it a special occasion or something?

Yes, actually. In case you haven't heard, Del Rey is signed on to continue publishing Star Wars books right through to 2013. The current plans include roughly 35 novels (SW fans are voracious readers!). And among those novels will be the third book in the Darth Bane series!

I like the sound of that, so let me type it one more time:

There will be a third Darth Bane novel!

If you think I'm excited, you should see the mega font I used on the NEWS page of my website to announce this. (Okay, maybe it's not that impressive. My website is functional, not aesthetically pleasing.)

I'd love people to click the link and check out my site, but just to make it easy on you, I'll summarize the info from my website:

Darth Bane #3
Title: Not sure yet...
Release Date: I don't quite know. 2010, maybe?
Returning Characters: Bane, Zannah (Ha! I got one!)
Plot Details: Uh, yeah... I'm still working that out.

Is this the last novel? Will the series continue beyond book three?
I hadn't really thought that far ahead...

As updates go, this ranks about a 8.8 on the lameness scale.
I admit, I'm not exactly a font of information... but at least the third Bane novel is finally official. I have signed contracts and everything.

So, a sincere THANK YOU to all the fans clamoring for more Bane. Because of you, the Dark Lord still lives...
(If I used emoticons, I'd have all sorts of smiling huggy-hearts and stuff here. But that's not really my style.)

And for those of you who are waiting for the paperback edition of Rule of Two, it comes out on October 28th.

date Posted: Sep 16, 2008 12:49 AM I'm back again. I just can't believe it. It's almost as if you'd said that there was going to be a KotOR III. Actually, I think this is second only to the possibility of a KotOR III. Congratulations, and thank you once again! Is this the last novel? Will the series continue beyond book three? Drew, I think that is a great Idea, and i'd like to pass on this.
in my time of readin the star wars novels, there arent enough covering the time of knights of the Old Republic, and seeing del rey have decided to give the writers this chance again with them in publishin more star wars books, pass the msg on, this star war fan wants to see more novels based and set back in the time of the sith wars & knights of the old republic, and to finally work on completing the Legacy of the skywalker family seedline.

Thanks for all the comments. Just a small update - looks like the as yet untitled third Darth Bane novel will be coming out in December or 2009. (This is still subject to change, of course.)

I'm almost finished the outline for the novel, and pending approvals from the powers that be I expect to start the actual writing fairly soon.

Darrth_Adas:
I'd love to see more Old Republic stuff, and the success of the Bane novels bodes well for it in the future. Rest assured, the publishers are well aware of the fan interest in this timeline. As for the paperback/hardcover thing, I don't see that happening. The book industry has a long history of releasing hard cover first, then paperback.
