"Someday I will be. I will be the most powerful Jedi ever"- Anakin

Let's start at AOTC. Anakin belives he's a very good jedi. He knows that he has the skills that he needs. He is is powerfull and strong for his age. He knows this and cracks that Yoda comment when he and Obi-wan are flying, about him having the light saber skills equal or better than Master Yoda. He might not actually mean this but he still has enough confidence to say he could. The next important thing that happens (important to this blog) is when he can't save his mother. He trys to save her but there is nothing he can do to save her. Though it is true he thinks there is something he could have done. This takes a blow to his self image or ,self esteem. His Self Image is mostly repaiable, but the wound will be there no matter what. Strike One

On to ROTS. In the begining, when saving Palps Akain appears to be confident with himself, actually very confident when battiling Dooku, saying "My powers have doubled sice we battled last". That got me thinking (not doubting that they didn't double) Maybe, this was just a front, for the doubt he had in himself, not just for Dooku but for other things also.The next event that effects this is the meeting with the Jedi Council. They tell him because of Palps he his on the council and he is happy. But wait, know they are telling him he isn't a Master. Basicly what he is thinking is, they think I 'm good but not good enough. This would make anyone a bit upset. Strike Two

Then the mission for Utapa is assigned. Anakin voulenteers himself for this particular mission because he know it's important, but the Council says they need some one more experienced then Anakin and pick Obi-wan. Some one who in AOTC Anakin said he was ahead of.Strike three

Now comes the break-down. Keep in mind while all of this is happining Anakin is trying to find a way to save Padme' from his dreams. Really this is bigger than a strike, it is the reason he breaks down. Then Palps offers him Power. Power he thought he had had.Power to save Padme' power to prove them wrong.Power to make him stronger. Power he thought he Needed]. But he didn't, he didn't need it and in the end, he dosen't get the power he needs any way.Maybe he thought he needed the dark side to be more powerfull somewhat like how some people think they need drugs or such to be more "cool". How sad. So really if he had thought he didn't need the power ,if he was more confident in him self, maybe would he not have turned to the dark side?
