This past weekend I went to Alexandria, VA. It was my mother's best friend's 40th wedding anniversary, and I swear that when I was a kid, I must have known *everyone* there. I say this because every time I met someone, the first thing they said was, "I knew you back then..."

A little disconcerting, and gave me the feeling I'm getting old-timer's disease a bit early

I don't remember ever meeting these people! And hey, I was like 12 or something when I did! OK, ok ... so that was 28 years ago. Big deal ...

Anyway, I ate a lot, drank a lot of beverages both high-octane and not, and generally relaxed all weekend. It was awesome. What a blast....

The highlight of the weekend was a gag gift the honorees got: a framed photo of George and Laura Bush, thanking them for their support of the Republican National Committee. Since they are very hard-core Democrats, this led to a discussion of some highly original things to actually do with this picture.
