Hello everyone! Son Of Skywalker15 here to blog about the many topics of the Star Wars Universe. Since 2003 I've been interested with the "Kotor" Era and Saga it introduced. Today I'm going to blog about my thoughts on a possible Kotor 3.

Let's start with what we know about a Kotor 3 before I put my thoughts on it and on LA out there. First are the multiple statements from Bioware telling us that they are not and will not be working on Knights Of The Old Republic III*. However, there is also a rumor that an MMORPG that Bioware is putting out will be a Kotor Era based one*. This rumor has not been confirmed or denied as of yet. We also know that both the Battlefront & Kotor sagas will not be forgotten, according to VP Of Sales Nancy MacIntyre*. However, she never states exactly how they will grow, and that's where my rampant speculation comes in

Let's go back to May of 2007. It was at this time that Battlefront: Renegade Squadron was announced by LA* and it was to be a PSP Exclusive. A few weeks later many sites reported that Bioware had begun a group to create an MMORPG. Because of it's ties to Star Wars, many started anticipating it was a Kotor era MMORPG.* Coincidence? I think not.

Both games, if made, would not only appeal to a newer fan base but also make sure we had something to hold us over until the third installment of each series is created. So, this is where my thoughts really start. I believe LA is playing it safe and not rushing either game ( both games are the best selling LA games ever.) because they don't want another " Kotor II bugs and such" issue because it was only made in 13 months. They want to make different games that appeal to different age levels ( Lego Star Wars, The Force Unleashed, Lego Indiana Jones.) and also different fan bases ( PC/PSP if the expansions were to be made.) Now, it seems that Battlefront: Renegade Squadron will be only an expansion*, which would probably make the possible Kotor MMORPG simply an expansion on the Era also.

By making expansions and letting people get a maybe taste of a third installment LA would gain more buyers and it would be able to please many people. Now I realize many people who love RPGs and not only button-mashing games get disappointed each time a game besides Kotor 3 is announced, but LA isn't doing it to punish you. Jim Ward has seen what you feel about Kotor II being rushed for you guys. I wouldn't want to rush to make a Kotor III either. Nobody ca ever please everyone, but I think LA is trying to slowly but surely bring more people in along with loyal customers so Kotor 3 and Battlefront 3 will be even better then their predecessors in sales, but also in gameplay, story, characters, and more.

Don't worry loyal Kotor fans, I don't believe LA is foolish enough to forget you and your loyalty. I predict we will hear something about Kotor III in 08 or 09. Heck, as for as I know it's already being made! Besides, the series has a nice comic that is also evolving the past of Revan, Malak as well as other Kotor characters so be sure to check it out also.
