 | Starwars:"Just a Kid's Movie"? |
This subject came to my thoughts a few days ago when I questioned my mother about getting Lego Starwars II; is starwars just a kid's movie? She had asked me if I was sure about getting this game because it looked a little childish. Now, I love and respect my mother, and her opinion was noted, but I told her," Of course not, it's Starwars". After that, I had begun questioning myself about being a Starwars Fan as a teenager.
When Starwars was first being made, the Fox Producer had called it a mere "Child Movie"; I began thinking if he was right. After all, almost all the movies are PG, the games E-T, and the books well written for children readers and adults alike. I thought about it way more then I should have my next Global class, but something had come to me. If Starwars was such a kid's thing, then why do people who saw it in '77 still love the trill and adventure of this Galaxy?
So, I told my Mother she made me thought allot about it, and she said that a true loyal person will always find a way to defend their loyalty. And I have; Starwars is great, awe-inspiring movie and EU. I forced myself to think that as went to the register to get my game. I finally realize I doesn't matter what they thought, but what me and God thought. Hard Lessons and taught by Great People. Though it will probably still be hard to go with 6 year old to get collectable action figures, I can have a new found faith about doing it.
Walking into a Action Figure isle, or Book section with 6 year olds crowding around you; Then it hit me; Starwars is not only pointed towards children to open their minds and learn about could-be's.Also, for adults to escape the stress of jobs, bills, and just them relax and be free.
So perhaps the Head Fox Producer was right, Starwars is a kid's movie, but, it's also an adult movie. Sending messages, helping your faith in your religion, what ever the case, Starwars is there. So, when ever you feel like you can't be loyal, just look deep into the Core, and you will find what's right. Trust Me.

I think thatwhen people say SW is for kids(like Ep.1)they are missing that it is directed to ALL ages.It has only a few corny jokes and some kiddish stuff, but that is greatly overshadowed by the intense drama, great love stories, amazing action(for both kids and adults),betrayal, redemption, and more.It is for all ages and simply ROCKS.
GREAT BLOG.

I used to question myself before I joined this site. I mean I'm 50+. And then I noticed a lot of the fans here are not much younger than I am, in my heart I mean. This whole Starwars fandom brings me joy and that can't be bad. It's good clean fun. The movies are great. They are classic lesson teachers in a spectacular way. I have no doubts....

It doeant matter who watches star wars. We know the truth, and i think that skywalker15 is the first to say it. Star wars aint no kids stuff, its aomething that has taken us here, If there wasnt star wars, then i wouldnt know stooge, or yoshiyoda, or mabye viaogo angel, or any of those great bloggers out there, just the other day i had told any1 i could that my grandfather died, and im not the least bit weakend. He was suffering, and i fell happy, not sad. He is in now 1 with the force, and for all i know, hes probably talking with some1 from the original trilogy. Whos dead, of course. I fell that way and i bet millions here also do. MTFBWY Always.

I agree. Star Wars is for everybody! Not just for little kids and stuff....though they really enjoy it, it is for us crazy teenagers too. I've never asked myself that question, but I agree. One hundred percent agree. If that makes any sense.

I never ever question my loyalty to Star Wars. I'm 14 and I have loved Star Wars ever since I was 4 the first time I saw ANH.

Part of what makes SW so great is GL's brilliant take on universal themes. These are themes that cross all barriers of time and space, and of course age. So many people of all ages love SW and we are all entitled to! That's what makes the GFFA so amazing- anybody can fall in love with it!

Do six-year-olds still buy STAR WARS toys? I am glad to hear that. Personally, I think collectors have ruined the toy industry, the prices have gone up because it's no longer "kid stuff". Is STAR WARS just for kids? No. Are toys? I think they should be.

Well, personally I think it is for everyone. It's populist entertainment. However, If I had a kid, I might wait a wee bit longer until showing ROTS and steer him/her away from the more mature EU such as the bulk of the NJO series.
And if the up-and-coming TV series turns out to be as "dark and gritty" as Rick McCallum says it is going to be, I'll steer them away from that too.

I agree. Since I'm 14, I could handle the NJO and the TV Series and ROTS.

Aww, Bith beat Gahmah to it.
Like everyone else said, it is for just about everyone, except for some things like ROTS, the NJO series, and the Dark Side rounds of any multi-pathed video games (namely KOTOR).
And if you see Gahmah's artwork, well, let's just say it's not the most childish thing (i.e. the blood on Gahmah's helmet and wrist blade).

It's for everyone, regardless of age. There are so many themes and adventure in the movies, books, games, etc. that everyone gets something different out of it. As for Lego Star Wars, it does seem childish, but it's so funny and entertaining, how can anyone say no?

It has been my experiance that while kids like Star Wars, they tend to only like the innocent parts, and that is why not to many kids read EU. It makes sense, of course.

that's the beauty of star wars...it's for everyone. adults and children alike can watch it, enjoy it, and ultimately get something out of it. i am a teenager (one who also thinks that lego star wars looks like fun) and i have never questioned whether or not i should move on to other things. and even when i get older, i don't think i'll ever stop enjoying star wars.
