Anakin and Bastila: Closer Than Once Thought
" The Force Fights With Me!"- Bastila Shan

" I want more...."- Anakin Skywalker

This Blog is to compare the characteristics of young Bastila Shan, and Anakin Skywalker. Below are Character Sketches for both characters.

Bastila Shan- Jedi Padawan, Master of the art of Battle Meditation, companion / lover to Sith Lord Revan. Headstrong, impatient, always wanting more, such as the rank of Master while on her adventure with Revan

Anakin Skywalker- Jedi Knight, Master of the Force, Chosen One, Lover to Padme Amadala. Head strong, impatient, always wanting more- to have control over death and living mostly, and to become a Jedi Master.

Though of two different Era's, these Jedi share in common one thing-Desire

Desire to become a Master, to love, to save a love and to make the galaxy safe. Anakin became Darth Vader because of his desire to save Padme. Bastila fell to the darkness, I believe, for her desire to stop the War.

However, many Jedi of the Era Of the Jedi-Civil-War wanted to stop it, and maybe even taste what the other side knew. The Dark Jedi knew what the Jedi knew, but the Jedi didn't know the power of the Darkness like them. I believe Bastial's desire to taste the darkness, to feel what Revan had, is what drove her to the darkness.

However, Anakin also felt a desire to fell and touch if you will the power of the dark side. It started when he used his anger to try and save his mother, and ended when he couldn't save Padme.

Also, Bastila was often rash and only waited for the Council to decide things when she saw it fit. As did Anakin.

Also, if Bastila stayed with the darkness[ non-canon], the Sith Empire becomes more powerful. Just as Anakin made an Empire with two Sith.

Case in point? Anakin and Bastila are very close to being the same person, but in different Eras. There ideals, passions, and hopes all lead to there ultimate side of going dark and then coming back.

So, the next time you play Knights Of The Old Republic or watch Revenge Of The Sith , remember what I have told you here. May The Force Be With You All.

Special Thanks to the frequenters of the Darth Revan Discussion Thread for opening my mind to this thought.

Although I cannot find any examples at the moment, I believe that this is a common quality of darksiders. People want more, the darkside offers it. The passion of love can fuel the darkside. Those who are headstong, young cannot realize the danger until it is too late.

lover to Sith Lord Revan.

Yeah, that's always creeped me out.

May the Force be with us all! God bless!

Good blog!

I think that all Jedi desire something. Many of the Jedi in the Jedi Civil War desired the war to end, so Bastil feeling the same thing isn't exactly a doorway to the darkside. A better way to put it is Bastila desired to know what the dark side felt like. She wanted to know what Revan felt when he emerged from the Unknown Regions.

Sorry, but i'm going to have to disagree with your comparison on Anakin and Bastila.

That's fine by me, everyone are entitled to their opinions. You make a valid point though, Bastila always was eager to feel the power of dark side, and know what the other side knew. I think that's what drove her teachings on Light VS.Evil in the game. You know 21, we would love you in the Electronic Games Forum.

There is a lack of similarity between them that is undeniable...

... I would never play a game 4 times through just to get the right set of circumstances for Luke to become romanticly involved with me hehe :)

Youre very right but this is common among most fallen jedi: wanting more
