Outrage as Star Wars Fans Riot
I just read this here article on the Star Wars wiki. I don't know if it's true or not, I double checked my calendar - it ain't April Fools yet, so I guess it could be true.

I haven't bothered checking any other sources but I just want to say that this news vexes me. Okay, so there have been issues with the Plagueis back-story, can't the people involved just sit down and work out what's in the best interests of the people?

Or is that what they've been doing and the problem is they can't decide what's best?

I say they should be made to agree.

Well, if it works...

So not only am I vexed at the plans for a Skywalker novel, but now the one novel I was really looking forward to has been cancelled/shelved.

Thats it, they're all scrubbed from my Christmas card list.

Ah well, I still have Harry Potter.

Laters.

BLASPHEMY...How dare you speak of Skywalker that way...Just teasing ya.

Hey, at some point or another there will be a novel about Paly and Plagueis. Until then, enjoy the movies as they are the real deal. ;)

Ah well, I still have Harry Potter.

Interesting. I hadn't heard about the cancellation. I'm sure there's no one simple reason, and I would be compelled to think that one reason might have to do with the development of both Star Wars TV shows. They had put holds on EU books before and during production of the prequels, so it's understandable that they might want to keep the big SW mysteries on hold for potential backstory/continuity to be revealed with the shows.

You're lucky I didn't call him Borewalker, which was a consideration.

July 21st baby! They just released the cover art, check it out!

Did you just call me 'baby'? I'd already seen the cover art but thanks anyway.

I feel your pain.

Maybe if they heard enough of our voices on the subject they'd change their minds?

They would never listen to us.

Did ya invite Richard Hatch to your party?

besides he who must not be named!!

There's no guarantee that he'll die! Or have you just spoiled the whole plot?

Anyway, here's a joke to cheer me up:

Q. Where does Darth Krayt go to have his back, sack and crack waxed?

A. Darth Salon's.

Funny, no sooner than I write my "Charlie Brown" entry about how the crackheads will probably turn on the Plagueis novel when LFL goes and cancels the sucker. Think maybe Lucasfilm read my blog??? Nah... :^O

Amazing to say, I have never read a single HP book. And I've only seen the first film. (Blasphemous, I know...) But I'll take everyone's word that it'll be THE event of the summer.

The funny thing is, I am happy as a lark with the news about the Plagueis book. You see, I am currently writing a screenplay that tells the story of Plagueis and Sidious. My story will be the official one. Thank you Lucasfilm, for shuffling your feet on this project!

The Plagueis book intrigued me, too...bummer. I agree. Just sit the powers-that-be down and figure out what the heck the dude's back story is. GEEZ!

I think that a Plagueis book would be great. I would like to know about his master and more about the rule of two sith at a time. I know KOTOR 1&2 shows an army of sith fight for the same cause, but i think it would be cool if they showed evidence of this rule and a little about Darth Bane, in KOTOR 3 or another KOTOR game. Dont worry though, i believe that there will be a novel about Darth Plaguies in the near future. :)

Well, fans are complaining about the book being cancelled. They would have complained anyways if the book was completed. They would complain that it "ruins Star Wars," "raped my childhood," and what-not.

You know what? I agree. The mystery is there for a reason.

Love the joke! High praise indeed from El Geniusio.

July 21st is gonna be the biggest day of the summer! I think the Nordic countries will be several weeks behind the curve on this. Maybe, maybe not. If so I may just have to be on leave in the Uk for its release.

Amazing to say, I have never read a single HP book. And I've only seen the first film. I get wierd looks when I tell people I've never seen a Matrix film.

I know! How difficult can it be? I think they did the difficult part already - coming up with a species. Maybe they're regretting saying that Plagueis was a Muun. You never know, when the novel is finally done, we'll suddenly find that he's a human woman!

Retcon that, Abel!

I'm glad someone is, good luck with your version.

Dont worry though, i believe that there will be a novel about Darth Plaguies in the near future.

Not if the article is to be believed. You could be looking at 2010. That is not the near future.

You know what? I agree. The mystery is there for a reason.

I see your point, and some mysteries should be left out in the open (Yoda for example), but I was itching to read about Palpatine's master.

And this is straight from the proverbial horse's mouth: We didn't want to personalize Plagueis and Palpatine to the point where they because mundane - we figured the better option at this point was to leave their back stories mysterious. We have no plans at the moment to move forward with this.

Aw, what a bummer!:( That would've been a great read.

I'm almost afraid to tell you this...but I'm not really into Harry Potter. I LOVE the movies, don't get me wrong, but my list of books to read could cirlce the planet 25 times and that's one series that has been put on the backburner. Perhaps someday (like when I freakin' graduate from uni) I'll try to tackle all those books...

Spidey, though...mmmm. Spidey, Spidey, SPIDEY!!!:x Can't WAIT!!!

Forget Pirates, Spidey, and Shrek -- July 21st is gonna be the biggest day of the summer!

Somehow, I knew that was coming...

I agree, this is very upsetting news. I'd been hoping the Plagueis novel (combined with the Darth Bane one) could start a succession of novels about the Sith Lords.

We still have Harry Potter, true... but what about my 2008 reading?

Ah! Plagueis canceled?? I was looking forward to that! They better not cancel Death Star, too (I doubt they will, but to lose both of those would suck)

See the first one, skip the rest.

I second that.

Harry Potter...meh. I read the first three back when they were just really taking off (the time between 3 and 4) and, I like all the movies, but I just haven't be interested enough to keep reading.

Forget Pirates period.
Pirates was awesome! Pirates are awesome, and the movies were good.

Back to Star Wars though, I'm anticipating Death Star (a long way off, since I don't by hardcovers), Darth Bane, and Betrayal. I can't believe Allegiance isn't paperbacking until next years. That stinks.

Yeah, I was looking forward to that as well. At least the Skywalker novel is written by Stover and will involve Mandalorians.

Indeed. June will be a GREAT literary month for me: The last HP novel AND Sacrifice as well. It's like the fun never ends!

Why are you vexed at plans for a Skywalker novel?

I can't be bothered in going into this again, but the bottom line is that the period is crammed full of adventures already. Out with the old, and in with the new, that's my suggestion. Lets have more adventures about somebody else instead of some guy who's been there, done that. Let him go on leave for a bit.

At least the Skywalker novel is written by Stover and will involve Mandalorians.

I'm definitely not getting it now.

Why do people like those so much?

Johny Depp?
