The un-Celebration IV update #1
Ok, as many of you won't even be online to check this out, there's little point in doing this. But, this is my antidote to the gazillion updates we'll be seeing over the next eleventeen weeks about CIV, which in my book, is a plastic explosive.

Anyway, I stayed at home the other night and struggled to find something to do. I tried playing pinball on my computer but I soon lost concentration, so I tried to select a dvd to watch. As I slowly lost the will to live browsing my dvd collection, I by-passed all the regular favourites (gangster and female-art movies, even TESB) and ended up settling for Beat Street. Fresh.

As I've just finished reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and am stuck for something else to read, I looked at my book collection. After about an hour of decision making, I selected the graphic novella Rebel Agent, as it occurred to me I'd never read it before, despite owning it for about a year.

I don't think I'll be finishing it, I'm not impressed. I'll give it a chance though.

The next evening was Liverpool versus AC Milan in the Champions League Final in Athens. Kick off was at 2145 local time so I got to the bar at 2030 and got decent seats in front of the big screen, complete with Liverpool scarf and flag adorning my nervous body.

I received umpteen phonecalls and text messages wishing me luck, as if I was actually playing and I was eventually joined by two colleagues from work. The beer flowed and it was a good atmosphere but ultimately the night was not a success as Liverpool were beaten 2-1. As the bitter taste of defeat seeped into me, I was reminded that AC Milan were very close to not even being allowed to play in the tournament due to the Italian League match-fixing scandal last year. Sweet, thanks for that, beaten by a team that didn't deserve to be in it (although they did deserve to win the match).

So I got to bed around 0100.

I went to work next day, deflated.

Not even a decent blog to cheer me up.

I'd even turned down a night in Tallinn, Estonia (free ferry crossing, free accommodation and cheaper booze) for this, but as I'll be there tomorrow night anyway, so hopefully something eventful will happen.

I also turned down a chance to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3 at its first showing at midnight. Now I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to watch it.

Here's hoping that Celebration IV is going well. Stick around for another exciting instalment of the Rogueish un-Celebration update, coming to a computer screen near you!

Yeah I totally feel like a kid who got left home from the big trip, or the one guy that no one told about happy hour (that really never happened). ;)

This is so awesome! I can't wait for the next issue! By the way, have you ever thought about having a happy hour where you drink cocktails the first half of the night and then burn down buildings with molotov cocktails the rest of the night? I was just wondering because I have some free-time coming up and bowling is getting really old...Right, ok, well I'll join you for the next issue...

Well I don't feel that way exactly, I'm just goofing around on the blogs.

Thanks for the update, Rogueish! story of my life right now too.

You watched Beat Street too? Word.

I'm off to "lunch" in about 80 minutes.

I thought you were always out to lunch.

I feel your pain!

You wanted Liverpool to win too huh?

I hope it was good for you.

I would like to say that I felt it through the Force, but as the Force is only a made-up fictional thing from a story, I wont.

anyone feel like shipping me in next day air to the convention center in a refrigerator box.

The lengths some people will take just to stand in lines for a whole weekend.

What? You've only thought about doing that? Where's the fun in thinking?

I was just wondering because I have some free-time coming up and bowling is getting really old...

So's urinating from my balcony onto pedestrian's below.

Oddly enough, I'm celebrating with whiskey and Guinness again. My wife lies to me, and I guess that's why we get along. You, on the other hand, remain honest. This isn't going to work.

Thanks for the tip, Leia.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, so nice not being blacklisted.

Would you believe I blacklisted Amidalooine and jkthunder too. No idea what happened. I considered leaving Ms Thunder on the list, but relented and unblocked you all.

Let that be a lesson to you - don't drink and blog at the same time! How many times do I have to say this?

I watched that Champions League final from my hotel room. I guess Milan got their revenge.

Rogueish, it's a good thing you didn't see Pirates at midnight. I heard it's almost 3 hours long. Even I couldn't stay up that late. Still haven't seen it yet, but I will shortly. (Of course I also said the same thing about Spidey 3, and still haven't gotten off my duff to see that one either...)

Oh, and Beat Street? I tell ya, you leave the guy alone for a few days and this is what happens... Whatever happened to that cinematic masterpiece that was Breakin' ???

Not even a decent blog to cheer me up.

I have some free-time coming up and bowling is getting really old...
I'm with C1 - I could use some new diversions . . .

Please, at least lie to me.

Whatever happened to that cinematic masterpiece that was Breakin' ???

It was overshadowed by the spectacular Breakdance 2: Electric Boogaloo.

for the record: NOT GUILTY!!!

Actually, I've been looking forward to these. I read a couple. I immensely enjoyed the personal update I received via email.

Have you ever seen a match in Athens?

No, I heard they are bonkers. And after that match, Liverpool fans have officially been voted the worst fans in Europe, but for offences committed over 5 years, not just that one night.

Getting there. Kyle Katarn did it for me. I haven't had a chance to look at the new site yet (my office computer wont allow me to view the site, so I have to just access blogs via history settings) but you can all also thank Rivet Head for what he's done for me - I haven't got it yet, but the excitement and anticipation that I'm experiencing means that there must still be an attraction to Star Wars.
