Hear no evil, Seen no evil, Speak no evil.
I have been away from the blogs for a several days dealing with events in the family. I'll start catching up as soon as possible. For now I'm sitting here at work and thought I'd use some down time to post something I've had in que for a couple of weeks. It was something I was thinking about after reading Betrayal. "Communication." The saga is riddled with it or the lack there of. No one seems to want to talk to anyone about what is bothering them. Everyone for whatever their individual reasons want to keep their secrets. The kicker is that most of what went down would not have happened if someone, anyone of them had just come clean with their feelings.

Look at some of the things that, had they been communicated, would have changed the course of the galaxy. The love and marraige of Anakin and Padme the children that came from that love should have been brought out into the open. The consequences would not have been as bad as they imagined. Things definitely would have changed but not on a galaxy wide scale. Anakin should have confided more in Obi-wan or Yoda or someone about the feelings and anger he was bottling up. He should have told Obi-wan about the sandpeople incident. Obi-wan should have professed his friendship and pride of Anakin long before it was too late. He also should have told him he tried to stick up for him with the council. Obi-wan also should have reported what he suspected of the relationship to Padme to the council or at least to Yoda. Obi-wan again covered up the truth when speaking to Luke about Anakin. Owen tried to hide the truth of this and the truth of Ben to young Luke. Mace should have communicated some recognition of Anakins acheivements. Anakin should have told Obi-wan or Yoda the truth of what happened on the "Invisible Hand". He also should have told Obi-wan what was happening in his dreams. Obi-wan should have told Anakin he knew what was going on with Padme. A larger list can be compiled I'm sure. In "Betrayal" seems to be falling prey to non communication as well. I won't go further and spoil anything for those who still haven't read it.

In the OT we actually see some positive communication. Luke actually tells Leia what is going on though he keeps some revelations to himself for a little while until the time was right. Vader tells Luke the truth as does Obi-wan tell Luke about Leia. Leia even communicates her feelings and things revealed to her to Han when she is ready. Luke even tells Vader his feelings about him. Perhaps this is a gift of sorts that Yoda gives to Anakin's offspring. By growing up normally and having relationships they also learned to communicate with those they care for. When you know you can speak to and have the support of your family and friends it is much easier to make the right decisions. How many times in our own lives do we let things go unsaid that should be. I know I do this. It seems to always bite you in the behind later. The lesson here is of course don't hide secrets from others. Your usually hiding from yourself. Expose the demons within to those who care for you. After all the the fate of the galaxy may hang in the balance.
