Yoda when seperating the twins told Obi-wan that Luke would go to Tatooine and be with his family. I think that is one of the greatest gifts he gave to young Luke. Obi-wan as his guardian angel didn't hurt either. In doing so he put Luke in a loving nurturing environment. Yoda I think realized where they went wrong with Anakin and wanted to make sure the same mistakes weren't made with Luke, their hope for the future. So away Luke went under the watchful protection of Ben.
Who could doubt when seeing baby Luke handed to Beru and the fatherly smile of pride of Owen, that they were loving parents to young Luke. They gave him a home and upbringing. Gave him a sense of place. There is no doubt Owen was strict but I think it came more from love than anything else. I think he wanted to protect Luke in his own way and that he could do it just as well as Ben. Even
from Ben who very well may have been the biggest danger in Owens eyes. I could see Beru babying Luke a bit. Admonishing Owen when he got too harsh. She was the one Luke ran to and confided in. Owen taught Luke the value of working for what you need.
It makes you wonder why they never chose to have their own children. Or if they did what happened. They seemed natural parents.
He also got to have friendships. To just be a kid, a teenager with the same problems associated with it as all kids. Did the girl at school like him. Hanging out and probably getting in trouble with authority figures at times. When will he be able to get his land speeder license. How to stay away from the local bully.
He also had a the crazy old hermit who talked to thin air that always seemed to be around when he needed a helping hand or was in trouble. Maybe he even had a good adventure tale to tell the kids sitting outside the local market.
All the while Luke got to experience love and safety far out in the outer rim. Away from the turmoil of the galaxy. Away from the darkness of his father. In the end it is what saved him the same fate and in fact saved Vader as well.
After all he only spread the love he experienced growing up to the man he had every reason to hate, his father.
Spread the love guys!
and MTFBWY!
