My unquestioning love for Star Wars goes back to 1977, but my love of ALL the worlds of sci-fi/fantasy predated even that. I love almost anything dealing with Science Fiction. Except for a few exceptions (ie Tremors, RoboCop, Etc.). If there is something sci-fi related on I usually watch it. I know there are a lot of purests out there who are fanatically loyal to their one favorite show or movies. I just can't do that since it would be denying a part of myself.
Star wars, Star Trek(all), Battlestar Galactica(both), SG1, Farscape, Doctor Who, Logans Run, Space 1999, Lost in Space, Firefly, and the list goes on and on. At 10 years old I had started and would finish over two years, the entire Dune series of books. At 3 years I remember watching Ultraman. These things opened me to all sorts of possibilities of what the world could be like, physically, mentally, and even spiritually.
While Star Wars is my all time favorite, all of them occupy a place in me. I say to all the hardcore fans (though you are free to do as you wish). You should have a lot of years left in your life. Why limit yourself to one possibility alone. There is always something new to discover out there. You might be missing something great along the way. Now apply this to everything in your life and the world will only get better. Nobody benefits from Dogma.
May the Sci-Fi be with us!
