The Relativity of Place
What is place? An area made up of definite or indefinite borders. It can be specific or figurative place where our heart lies, ie. Home. It can also be our social station in life, and are to act accordingly. Place, can be set in stone or elusive depending on how we perceive things. It seems to me that most of us; if not all,are searching for it. We are set forth upon this world to make our own way. To find out where we belong within the framework of society. It is like rotating a puzzle piece to see if it locks into place.

This includes the characters of our beloved saga. They were finding their place in the galaxy. They tried on their various hats to see which would suit them and ease their restlessness.

* Luke knew there was something more than being a farmboy. He moved on to the roll of pilot, then hero, then Jedi, then to son and brother and in the EU he moved to the rolls of teacher, husband, and father. Some titles he held reluctantly and never felt comfortable in their responsibility. Always moving onto the next empty space in the puzzle to find where he locked in.

* Leia and Padme found themselves bouncing between being a leaders and the loyalty to causes and the loyalties to their friends and loved ones.

* Obi-wan tried to find out whether being a Jedi, a teacher, a general, or friend was his rightful place. In giving up all of it he actually found his place.

* Han thought his place was secure until his fateful meeting of an old man and young farmboy. Where he realized there was more to himself than being a scoundrel. He really wanted to be more.

* Lando moved from one business to another. One more scam, one more gamble in search of his place. Like Han he realized there was more and found his place in friendship and loyalty.

*
Anakin like Luke always had a restless spirit. Feeling where he was was never where he was meant to be. There was always a need for more. When one place didn't fulfill his desires quickly or in the way he wanted, he would go to the next bigger offer. What he thought his place to be was always just out of reach, always just over the hill though I doubt he really knew what it was.

Place is relative to each of us and is much more within us that without. We set out in search of that something, like Kermit looking for his rainbow connection, only to find it was in our hearts all along. May be it is something so transient that it is impossible to find. Just when our search ends it changes and starts anew. Some see futility and drop out. Giving up on the search in one way or another. Others find a place and stick to it whether it is right or not and others just keep going; nomads in their own life.

Yoda criticized Luke because he never had his mind on where he was or what he was doing in the moment. Yoda saw place in the transitory present. Where one belonged was relative to the task at hand. It could be argued he found no need for a place in the universe. It was an unneeded attachment. Go where the will of the Force takes you; all else is irrelevant.

If you are wondering where I am going with this. It is a segue into showing my newest drawing in my "Relativity Series". It is titled "Relativity of Place". I have shown others in past blogs. Each of my drawings are ongoing narratives of a spiritual journey. While many I feel look to the past (old buildings, etc.), this one looks into the unknown. It has a lonely feel to it but also it has a sense of new possibilities for the future. The animal guides are there as always as the girls protector and teachers.

Until later my friends!
