I have a confession to make. I am a new ager. I know, I know , no one is perfect. I'm not however a flake over it. I can be called a sci-fi / Star Wars geek but not a flake. I'm actually rather average when you get to know me. A bit quiet with a quirky sense of humor. I only say these things because I know many roll their eyes over new age philosophy and I've heard all the jokes. It's okay I don't take myself too seriously. I speak openly about my spirituality if anyone shows interest. I do try to respect other points of view and not let myself prostelitize. I hate it when others do it so I make sure I don't either. My artwork ( I have a bachelors degree in art ) deals almost exclusively with spiritual symbolism. This all being said I move on to my actual blog. Loves meaning and how it relates to the force.
My mother was the one to expose me to New Age thinking at a very early age. I remember staring at the covers of her Edgar Cayce books (They showed a photo of Cayce made of concentric circles). As a child I had some psychic ability (though not now) and was pretty sure I saw a ghost and some other spirits. When Empire came out my mom explained the meanings behind what Yoda spoke of as the Force. It was lost on me at the time even though I thought it was cool there was something in our real world equatable to the Force. I would have to become much older before I would study and discover these meanings for myself.
The writer Neale Donald Walsh in his
Conversations with God books brings up most of these points much more eloquently than I ever could. It's not that no one else said them before him but he brings much of the New Age thought together in one group of books. In his books he gives a definition of what we call God. To put it simply, God is love incarnate brought forth by our own thought. To think is to create and creation is an act of love. We become co-creators with God. Being a part of and maker of that which makes us. There is nothing that is not God / Love and there is actually no way to seperate from this except by creating the illusion of seperation. You can't know who you are unless there is something to compare yourself to not be. So there we have Good / Evil, Dark / Light, the Yin & the Yang. Since there is nothing that isn't God / etc. there can be no flip side to the coin.
This of course when put into the context of our lives can change the way we perceive the things that happen to us daily. We can rejoice in the good things and appreciate the bad things for the gifts they bring as well. To do as Yoda says and let go of the things we fear to lose. We bring these things to us to create perfection through love.
I ramble of course, but to bring this around to the force connection. Love is described as the energy that creates and binds us together. The energy that as shown in quantum physics vibrates at different frequencies to create the different elements of our universe. The Force as described by Lucas is this same energy field and in effect is Love. It manipulates (creates) us and is manipulated by us. We can of course affect these vibrations in ourselves to become more in tune with the all much like the Jedi with the force.
I think this is where Palpatine and all the Sith were flawed. He / they misunderstood the Force thinking they were in control of it. Through their acts they moved away from the true Force and put an illusion in its place. Anakin of course was different and was never truely a Sith and would ultimately fulfill the prophecy because of the Love / Force. He had the capacity to love another. He just didn't know
how to love, or at least didn't realize he knew. As I believe Kenobi-fan said at one time Luke became his teacher, at least in this respect. Obi-wan tried to tell him also in the Death Star but he didn't have the ears to listen. He became a metaphor for the Force itself. Once he remembered to love again he connected with the Force completely breaking down the walls of illusion and brought back the balance in himself and the Force. (Not so much the act of destroying Palpatine.) He had created Hell but realized he no longer had to experience it.
What does all this mean. I don't know. Maybe nothing. Maybe everything. You can take from it anything you like. That's the beauty of the universe there are no right or wrong answers. Only what we decide to create or uncreate for ourselves.
We are given nothing but angels. There is nothing but Love!
"Love is being, being loved." -John Lennon
May the Force / Love be with you!
