The Perspective of Anakin Skywalker.
"How dare you? How dare you? No Jedi in this chamber, no Jedi in the galaxy, can match my power. Do you think you can deny Mastery to me? This is an insult, to the Chancellor, and myself. Do not imagine that it will be tolerated."
Anakin Skywalker to the High Jedi Council in the novelazation of ROTS. Sorry that it was so long. ;)

Well, we've made it to the fourth edition of the 'Perspective' blogs! Thanks to all who have commented! With Darth Maul, Shaak Ti, and Count Dooku down, I thought it was time for a little bit of Anakin. I looked through my blog history today and realized I have yet to write about him! Isn't that strange?

We all have our views on Anakin, obviously. At the beginning, and the end, of this beloved saga, he was a hero and favorite to many.

I, personally, believe that the High Jedi Council didn't quite use act on his ideals enough, especially during the Clone Wars. By this I mean, why did they seem to not care how he felt? Palpatine got Anakin to turn ultimately because he was always kind, and true, to Anakin. As Obi-Wan had stated himself, and he would know having been his Master, Anakin built relationships on how much he trusted the person. And how much they cared for each other. If you were Anakin, would you trust the Council and believe that they cared for you?

If you remember, Obi-Wan achieved his rank of Knight by killing Darth Maul. While the cartoon series says Anakin became a Knight as well after he killed Asajj Ventress, in the novelization it was after he fought on Praestilyn. So, let's say he became a Knight after Praestilyn. After that, he killed Asajj Ventress, helped win over Muunilist, met against Dooku again and survived [prior to ROTS], liberated the planet Nulvan, killed Count Dooku, rescued the Chancellor, brought down a Seperatist flagship for 'another happy landing', saved Obi-Wan nine [ten] times, and was still denied Mastery.

If you ask me, Anakin had a right to be angry at this. Instead of denying his wish, don't you think the Council would have been wise to make nice with one as powerful as Anakin? And as vulnerable to turn to the Dark Side as Anakin? I'm not saying that they should have made a special exception just for him, but if they had been kinder to him prior to ROTS, perhaps he would have forgiven, at the very least trusted their decision, to not make him a Master, regardless of him being on the Council.

In other words, they should have been a bit more flexable with the Chosen One, as to ensure that he fullfilled his destiny of destroying the Sith. Like Ki-Adi-Mundi had said in the Clone Wars: "In this time of need, why do we hold back the Chosen One?"

They should have been a little more at ease with him. Palpatine had been, and look what that got him? Sure, his death ticket, but Anakin mad a very promising apprentice for twenty-three years.

On another topic, I thought about how anakin had said he was the only Jedi on the Council in the history of the Jedi that was a Jedi Knight. This can not be, for Ki-Adi-Mundi was a Jedi Knight during TPM, and if the novelization of ROTS is correct, and Mace Windu was quite young when voted to the Council, than Mace Windu had also been a Jedi Knight. So it wasn't half as big of a disgrace to be on the Council as a Knight as Anakin had complained it was. I'm surprised Obi-Wan didn't correct him.

Dedication: Anakin Skywalker was the strongest known Force user ever since TPM. Shortly after he went to the Temple, he turned ten years old. His Master had been Obi-Wan Kenobi, the apprentice of the first Jedi he had ever met. He had killed Dark Jedi Asajj Ventress, Sith Lord Count Dooku [Darth Tyranus] and the Emperor, and Jedi such as the Dark Woman, Cin Drallig, Bene, Whie Malreaux, Gate Master Jurrok, Temple Archivist Jocasta Nu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and probably others. He died shortly after his son, Luke, turned him back to the Light, allowing him to die as Anakin Skywalker. He served on the High Jedi Council for several days before The Great Jedi Purge.

As always, your comments are always welcome! May the Force be with us all!
