How the School Conquers Our Thoughts!
Correct me if I'm wrong, my fellow Yoda fans [not that this actually has to deal with Yoda ;)] but isn't it wrong to distribute your opinion and your opinion only, in a monotonous manner, to a building of younglings? What I'm speaking of is how our teachers, principals, and other school faculty members are trying to brainwash their students into voting "Yes!" for the upcoming levy. ]:) I am opposed to this levy in many ways, but even if I wasn't I wouldn't like how it's all the teachers talk about with us. Here are some of the ridiculous things they're doing to try and get us to tell our parents "Mom, Dad, vote for the levy!"

1. They are holding assemblies with all schools in the district with the Super Attendant of the district lecturing on why it's such a marvelous idea.

2. Not ONCE do they say why it's bad; they only tell us the exaggerrated PROS of the levy's passage.

3. All band members are required to spell out "VOTE YES!" at the beggining of each show; you know, like how marching bands spell out "OHIO STATE" or "MICHIGAN" at football games?

4. In the middle of classes, if we run out of paper or chalk or markers, etc, the teacher sighs loudly and says, "This is why the levy needs to be passed..." as if it's so terrible.

5. Posters, fliers, and signs are being distributed around the public areas and in the schools themselves. Now, truly, I have little to no problems with this, but when piled onto all the other things, it seems like overkill.

6. I live in an area where, to nobody's offense, some can not offord to pay for the levy. This is probably the case in many other areas as well.

7. In my perspective [no pun intended ;)] those of us, which is indefinetly all of you bloggers here, who work hard to pay our taxes should not be made to pay even MORE!

8. It seems too useless and tedious because few people, that I know of, support the levy in our county.

So, what do YOU think? Is this abuse of Amendmant 1, or is it perfectly all right, or are there a few issues here and there?

In advance, I apologive if I have offended ANYONE. This is about the levy in my county only, and not in general perspective of levies.

I'd appreciate your comments! Force guide us all! :)

school brainwashes our thoughts on all things.

It doesn't prepare us for the harsh world outside the classroom walls.

They says it's safe but it isn't

They lie to us.

As my uncle once said when he was in school, "Down with contracts. Teachers lie"

School has caused pain in my life. Not just over the test that's tomorrow. But it has taken away a feeling of security I once had.

And yes, it is an abuse of Amendment 1.

Putting aside whether it is an abuse...

I understand the school wanting to promote the vote that would benefit them, but I think they should at least invite someone to the school that supports the opposing side for a debate.

Hmm...

It is an abuse of their influence, and they have been doing things like this for ages.

Schools are supposed to be places that teach you how to think, not always what to think. They are supposed to give you the information necessary to make your way in this world, and yet school did little to prepare me for real life.

I'm not sure if it'll ever change, but I can always hope, right?

God Bless,

May the Force be with us...

True that! I just don't understand why they think\ why they can get away with this.

And yes, we can always await A New Hope...;)
