iPods. All SW, all the time. |
When I discussed this blog with a friend last night, he asked me if I was going to post random musings. I told him I probably wouldn't, because who would care, and he told me I had to. It was a blogger's duty, he said. So for my friend Sean, here's a post that somehow, manages to come back to Star Wars anyway. Like that's a surprise?
I'm considering buying an iPod. Well, considering is sort of an understatement. I pass an Apple store on my way to work every day, and look at the gleaming windows and try not to drool. I see the white cords peek out of jackets and feel an overwhelming envy. Do I need an iPod? Not really, I guess. I have a Palm Tungsten 5 and can listen to mp3s on that. I also have a number of photos stored on the PDA, so photos can't be a determining factor, either. But TV! I can watch TV on a new iPod! I can watch Lost and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends... and if that wasn't enough, I can watch Clone Wars on an iPod. (That's it, I'm a Star Wars author now... I can justify this in terms of research!).
Why haven't I bought one yet? Fiscal responsibility. An iPod really isn't something I need. I'm not bringing out the violins here, just being honest. So I will wait another couple weeks, stock the pennies away, and get one in October. Not only will the New Essential Guide to Alien Species be coming out, I will mark 90 days as a former smoker. I will have earned the iPod.
So my dilemma is this: go with a refurbed 60 gig unit, or spring for an eye popping 80 gig new one. The warrantee is the same, so it's really a matter of price, capacity and features. I know the new screens are supposed to be brighter, so I went to the Apple store last night to check out the screens on the new ones.
What did I find loaded as a video? The Late Night with Conan O'Brien skit that had Truimph the Insult Dog visiting the NYC SW line-up at the Zeigfeld Theater. Up, it all comes back to Star Wars, doesn't it?
